 2006 / 2007 Competition Rule Book
Competitors can download the 06/07 SuperKarts! USA competition rule book in PDF format by clicking here. All rule book amendments, changes and clarifications will be posted here.

CIK Rule Book:  Section 20.3.3 of the SKUSA 2006-07 rule book states “FIC Engine Specifications: All CIK-FIA Rules and Regulations for ICC engines, standards and their components will be enforced unless specificed otherwise in this rulebook.”  Click here for a copy of the CIK/FIA Karting Technical Regulations.
Engine Changes - With the exception of the SuperPro class at this event (see sealing and tagging section in SuperNats specific rules below), the following language supercedes section 20.3.1.9.1 in the SKUSA 2006-07 Rule Book:

The intent for allowing engine changes during an event is to recover from a component failure and NOT to take advantage of brand/model specific performance characteristics for a given track configuration.

  1. The engine serial number shall be entered by each driver on the Pre-Tech Certification form that is turned in prior to qualifying.
  2. Engines and/or components will be “painted” by the event technical staff at the post qualifying weigh-in.
  3. Event technical staff may inspect an engine’s serial number and/or “paint” at any time during the event.
  4. Any engine change subsequent to qualifying MUST be pre-approved by the event Tech Director and if not, will result in a DQ and loss of points for ALL prior race sessions and a last place start in the next race session
  5. Change to a brand or model not identical to the original engine is NOT allowed and will result in a DQ and loss of points for the entire event. Note: Engine builder is not a factor in determining same brand/model.
  6. It is solely the driver’s responsibility to solicit and receive an engine change approval form executed by the event Tech Director.

S3/S4/S5 - Cylinders: ‘97 cylinders are legal.  On track and dyno testing (including SuperNats X competition) has shown that the ‘97 cylinders are, at best, comparable to ‘99-’01 cylinders.  This change is in recognition of the fact that Honda has freely substituted ‘97 cylinders in ‘99 kart engine kits. On all Honda cylinders, some factory grinding, done prior to the Nikasil process is present. The Technical Director reserves the right to approve or disapprove any cylinder supplied by Honda and not modified. In other words: Some stock O.E.M. cylinders may not be acceptable for SKUSA competition
S5 - Spec Honda Jr.:  All S3/S4 rules apply with the following exceptions:

  • RLV 0300 (red) or RLV 0301 (black) air box - 23mm tubes only
  • Exhaust restrictor plate with SKUSA logo and serial number (available from SKUSA only at $35+shipping)
  • 340lbs kart+driver weight
  • Age 12-15
  • Eligible chassis
TaG Air Box - must be pre-2004 CIK homologated or RLV with two inlet tubes not to exceed 22.0mm (+/- 1.0mm) and 95.0mm minimum length. Air boxes may not be modified although the rubber flange may be trimmed on the inside of the air box to the flange lip. Aftermarket internal foam air filters are allowed as long as no modification is made to the air box itself. The position of the air box is non-tech. Rotax airbox must remain as per RMC rules.
TaG Starter Batteries - Starter batteries must be of a sealed or dry cell design and securely mounted.
TaG Auxiliary Starters:

  • The intent of this rule update is to allow temporary auxiliary starting for TAG engines in the event of a starter system failure. It is not intended to replace the on-board system. As such, use of an auxiliary starter on consecutive race days could result in penalties being assessed.
  • In the event of a starting system component failure, an auxiliary starter may be used without penalty.
  • Regardless of the starting method employed, all starting system components (including charging system) must be installed per OEM specifications at all times. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in disqualification.
  • Any competitor using auxiliary starting may be subject to additional tech to verify complete starter system installation and legitimate component failure at the discretion of the Race Director.

SuperNationals XI Specific Rules and Procedures
SuperNats XI rules are per the SKUSA 2006-07 Rule Book including clarifications and exceptions as stated below and in the Event Info Sheet found in your registration package. Watch here for latest updates.

October 25, 2007 - Rules Clarification: In light of the recent CIK sanction of the SuperPro (ICC) class, here are some general guidelines for all classes.

SuperPro (ICC)
Current CIK Rule Book, including rule updates posted on this website.  Aside from exceptions posted herein, if you conform to Stars of Karting ICC rules, you are OK for SuperNats XI SuperPro (ICC) class.  Note that the SuperNats XI SuperPro class is not a CIK-FIA championship points event.  As such, SKUSA race officials reserve the right to be lenient in rule isue resolutions where safety and/or performance are not impacted.  Exceptions:

  • Article 2.16.4 - “Radiators must be placed above the chassis frame, at a maximum height of 50cm from the ground, at a maximum distance of 55cm ahead of the rear wheels axle ….. Due to the potential of extreme heat, the placement and height restrictions will not be enforced by SuperKarts! USA at this event.
  • Article 12, Appendix 1 - “Volume of combustion chamber: 11cc minimum.” SuperKarts! USA uses the same basic process but substitutes Marvel Mystery Oil as the designated fluid.  The Spark plug insert will be the USA specification with insert volume of 2.4 cm3/cc.  This results in a total volume of 13.4cm3/cc
  • Due to the dimensions of the MG spec tire, the maximum wheel/tire width is increased from 135mm to 138mm.
  • There is a fuel farm to comply with local fire regulations, but no Parc Ferme.
  • Spec tire - MG Yellow FZ (SKUSA spec)
  • Spec fuel - VP MS98
  • Spec oil - Motul Kart Grand Prix 2T

S1, G1, S3, S4, S5, TaG Senior, TaG Master
2006-07 SKUSA Rule Book, including rule updates posted on this website.

Rotax Senior, Rotax Master
2007 US RMC Rules - no exceptions

September 12, 2007 - Air Filters:  As has been the case for the last two SuperNats, Moto engines in S1, S3, S4 and G1 have the option of airboxes or air filters.
May 5, 2007 - Spec Tires: Click here for race tire policies.
May 5, 2007 - G1 and TaG Master age certification: At registration, present your birth certificate or current drivers license for age confirmation.

  • For G1, your birth date must be prior to 12/31/1972 to be eligible.
  • For TaG Master, your birth date must be prior to 12/31/1977 to be eligible.

May 5, 2007 - S4 age/weight certification: At registration, present your birth certificate or current drivers license for age confirmation.

  • If your birth date is after 12/31/1972, you will be weighed with optionally (i) full driving gear (suit, shoes, rib vest, gloves, helmet) or (ii) street clothes. There can be no added weight beyond the above described accessories and you must weigh a minimum of 200lbs to be eligible.

May 5, 2007 - TaG Rotax:  All engine components and installation requirements are to meet RMC (Rotax Max Challenge) rules.

  • Jetting – open jetting as per published IKF and TAG/USA. Due to the wide variety of altitude and other environmental factors present in the United States most organizations allow such jetting changes. #40 slide must be retained.
  • Engine tech seals — may be run with or without seals but must meet all RMC rules as above. Competitor will be responsible for any resealing required after technical inspection.

May 5, 2007 - Practice and Qualifying all classes:

  • Anyone in the wrong practice group will forfeit the next practice session (if the last practice session for the day, forfeit the warm-up the next morning).
  • Transponders are required beginning with the third practice session on Wednesday and for every track session thereafter (including practice and warm-ups) for the remainder of the event.  After the second practice session on Wednesday, you will not be allowed on the track without a transponder and will be blackflagged if passings are not being registered (consistent with your assigned transponder code) on the T&S system.
  • Anyone who misses their qualifying session or is in the wrong qualifying session will be assigned a “no time” and start at the back of the field in their respective class.
May 5, 2007 - Rotax Senior and Masters Classes: Rotax Senior and Masters classes will be run strictly under RMC rules and regulations and all off-track technical inspections, rulings, etc. for these classes will be the jurisdiction of Champcar Rotax Kart Challenge personnel.
May 5, 2007 - Race ID Labels:  Practice, qualifying and race groups will be identified by Race ID Labels to facilitate the pre-grid and track grid process.  You will not be allowed on the track without the proper Race ID Labels installed.  Click here for details.
May 5, 2007 - SuperPro:  SuperPro entries are not eligible to enter other SKUSA classes.  They are, however, eligible to compete in Rotax Senior and Rotax Master classes.
May 5, 2007 - Sticker Policy:  Failure to comply with the SuperNationals sticker policy will result in the forfeiture of any purse and/or prizes won by the competitor.  Click here for details.
May 5, 2007 - TaG 4Strokes: SKUSA has never been confident of the equity proposition between a 125cc 2stroke and a 250cc 4stroke and has often felt that separate classes for 2strokes and 4strokes may be a better solution.  In the case of the SuperNats, the 2stroke population is many times that of the 4strokes and thus, we have made the decision to allow only 2strokes in the SuperNats TaG classes this year.
May 5, 2007 - Spec Fuel and Oil: For Rotax Senior and Masters classes, the spec fuel/oil is VP MS93 and Motul 800 Factory Line 2. For all other classes, VP MS98 (ICC, TaG, Spec Honda) or VP C12 (built motos) is the spec fuel and Motul Kart Grand Prix 2T is the spec oil. Mixing ratio is not controlled.
May 5, 2007 - Pre-Tech: SKUSA employs self certification to facilitate pre-tech inspection.  Click here for details.
May 5, 2007 - Lapped Drivers: Drivers about to go down a lap on the leaders will be given the removal flag (Black Flag) and must exit the track the next time by the pit-in lane. Removed drivers will be scored based on laps finished up to the point of removal. Failure to heed the removal flag may result in penalties.
May 5, 2007 - Fuel Farm:  The Fuel Farm will open and close each day per the published schedule.  All fuel must be mixed and remain in the Fuel Farm. All re-fueling must be done in the Fuel Farm. By order of the Clark County Fire Marshall, no fuel is allowed in the pits other than in the Fuel Farm. KARTS ARE NOT TO BE STARTED IN THE FUEL FARM.
May 5, 2007 - Sealing and Tagging:  SuperPro chassis tagging and engine sealing will be conducted at the Tech Tent from 12:00pm-6:00pm Wednesday. Engines that require re-sealing shall be completed by the end of warm-up sessions on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Any SuperPro motor that is not sealed is not allowed to compete and will be disqualified upon inspection. Two engines may be sealed for the event.
May 5, 2007 - Hot Pit:  A maximum of two mechanics per current session entry are allowed in the Hot Pit.  All mechanics in the Hot Pit must be wearing a visible Hot Pit wrist band or they will be required to leave.
May 5, 2007 - Other than on the track, the only places where a kart can be moving under its own power are (i) in the pre-grid areas, (ii) in the Hot Pit and (iii) in the exit lane leading to the scales.  Karts must be pushed from pit to the pre-grids and from scales to the pit.
May 5, 2007 - No motorized vehicles of any kind are allowed in the pits, including cars, trucks, golf carts, motorized devices, etc.  Bicycles are OK.  We don’t want to detract from the on-track focus with unnecessary accidents in the pits.  Persons with disabilities are excluded from this restriction and may utilize electric powered transportation devices.
May 5, 2007 - To insure personal property security, no overnight camping is allowed in either the reserved or unreserved pit areas. Overnight camping is allowed in the RV parking area.
May 5, 2007 - Superkarts! USA, in accordance with the Clark County Fire Department, is posting these helpful policies and procedures to help assure that you are in compliance with all ordinances with regards to fuel handling and storage, as well as some basic safety policies that will benefit all who attend SuperNationals XI at Sam Boyd Stadium. Please take particular note of the fire extinguisher requirement. Full details
May 5, 2007 - Absolutely no one is allowed on the football field inside the stadium.
