Jeep Cherokee 2013 Test Drive

The United States is starting to get used to the return of the Jeep Cherokee name; all markets are adapting to the radically new look of this Jeep midsize SUV.

This latest version of the Grand Cherokee's widely popular smaller sibling, known in the United States by the name Liberty, has been the talk of the town since it first appeared in early 2013.

The key element of the exterior design of the car, which causes lively discussions, is the radiator grille, bent in the middle, consisting of six slats and seven slots, bordered by ultra-narrow daytime running lights.

After seeing all this in metal, we can say that the look is really... different. Jeep representatives claim that they are happy with the fact that opinions about the Cherokee are divided, their goal is to create a car that is attractive to a younger audience than buyers of the Grand version.

But among other things, the shark–shaped nose also performs a functional role - it contributes to the creation of an aerodynamic shape. Thus, the best fuel consumption figures are achieved, which has long been sought by customers.

The test route included freeways and winding mountain roads – and everywhere Cherokee cars provided a pleasant smooth ride, regardless of the version and tire size.

Jeep developers have made the Cherokee's body 36% stiffer than the previous model, and this has contributed to reducing cabin noise and improving ride smoothness.

The Jeep Cherokee is not far behind its big brother when it comes to cornering, although the steering is more predictable than sporty, and the Ford Kuga and Mazda CX-5 cars are more pleasant to drive and more agile.

Traction varies slightly, depending on the brand of all-season tires. It's more limited on the Sport that was tested, where the 17-inch Firestone tires screeched and the car constantly underreacted to steering as the speed increased. Handling characteristics were better with 18-inch Continental tires on the Longitude and Limited models.

There was an opportunity to test two of the three engines that will be available in Australia, there was only a 2.0-liter turbocharged Fiat diesel engine (perhaps this is not surprising, given the country from which entry into the global market begins).

Of the two gasoline engines, a 2.4–liter 4-cylinder and a 3.2-liter V6, a smaller one was tested in both models: all-wheel drive and with front drive wheels.

The slight weight advantage of the model with front-wheel drive ensured a slightly faster reaction from the engine, although acceleration in both cars is slower than fast. 1xbet প্রোমো কোড কি
