Honda Racing/HPD to Sponsor SKUSA SpringNationals
Thursday, 07 April 2011 09:17
Superkarts! USA is excited to release news that the organization will partner with Honda Performance Development (HPD) to kick off the 2011 national karting season. HPD will become the title sponsor of the opening round of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour, which will now been referred to as the Honda Racing/HPD SpringNationals. The event will take over the Musselman Honda Circuit in Tucson, Arizona on the April 29 – May 1 weekend, bringing the sport’s top TaG and shifter kart drivers together to begin the second running of SKUSA’s national program. As part of their support of the event, HPD will be providing all of the podium finishers in the Stock Moto classes with special product awards, and they will also be offering a contingency program that will be in effect throughout the entire Pro Tour season.

“The entrance of Honda Racing/HPD into our sport last year was an exciting announcement for karting, but I think that their sponsorship of our upcoming SpringNationals is even bigger, because it shows that they’re here to actively support what we do,” comments Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA president. “We have an understandable connection with HPD – thanks to our structured ladder of Stock Moto categories – and having them as our title sponsor for the SpringNationals will only serve to strengthen this working partnership.”

SKUSA Announces Rudolph as Pro Tour Director of Competition
Saturday, 26 March 2011 08:33
Superkarts! USA is proud to announce the addition of karting legend Alan Rudolph to the management staff of its Pro Tour, which is set to kick off the 2011 season in Tucson, Arizona late April with the second annual SpringNationals. The veteran racer and karting instructor will act as the Director of Competition, managing the on-track staff of race directors and corner workers while overseeing the action from Race Control.

“I’m thrilled that we have been able to bring Alan into our program, and I know this will help take our Pro Tour up another notch,” commented Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA President. “Alan’s extensive experience as a driver and an educator will make him the perfect link to our drivers, as he knows what happens out on the track and how to communicate with the competitors in order to provide a best platform for racing. He’ll be going to bat for the drivers to make sure the program is providing them with the experience they are looking for. We’re also going to leverage Alan’s significant talents to help work with our Junior drivers, giving them some instruction, guidance and support throughout the year.

Rudolph is the Chief Instructor at the Bondurant Kart Racing School and has raced karts and cars for more than 20 years. His resume is stacked with wins in programs such as the Rock Island Grand Prix King of the Streets, SKUSA ProMoto Tour, World Superkart Challenge and the legendary Quincy in the Park events.

SKUSA Pro Tour Releases Information for 2011 Program
Friday, 11 February 2011 15:47
Now that the new season of Superkarts! USA racing is officially underway – thanks to the successful completion of the opening round of the ProKart Challenge South series last weekend – it is with much excitement that the organization releases its plans for the 2011 SKUSA Pro Tour. The official schedule for the second edition of the program was announced in mid-November of last year, but specific components of the series have now been confirmed, such as an increased prize fund, the expansion of the SKUSA ‘Circle of Champions’ support package, and the opening of the online registration for the SpringNationals at http://www.superkartsusa.com . Additional event details, including a tentative event schedule, additional host hotel info and pit spot reservation instructions, will continue to be updated on the company website as those details are finalized.

To confirm the schedule, the SKUSA Pro Tour will kick off with the second annual SKUSA SpringNationals on the April 29-May 1 weekend at the incredible Musselman Honda Circuit (formerly P1 Kart Circuit) in Tucson, Arizona. The second stop on the schedule will be the SummerNationals on July 15-17 at Grand Junction Motor Speedway in Grand Junction, Colorado. The finale will once again be part of the consistently growing and ever-improving SuperNationals at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on November 16-20. Last year, almost 500 drivers participated in the race, and this number is expected to grow even larger in 2011 as a result of the increased support of SKUSA’s core classes.

MG Tires Extends Partnership with Superkarts! USA in Conjunction with Release of New Spec Race Tire
Tuesday, 11 January 2011 01:00
Continuing what has been a prosperous partnership for many years, MG Tires and Superkarts! USA would like to jointly announce that they have extended their spec tire relationship for 2011 and beyond. In addition to the Brazilian manufacturer serving once again as the official tire for all SKUSA events, including the second edition of the Pro Tour and the company’s growing number of regional series, the 2011 season will mark the debut of the new specially branded MG-SK ‘SKUSA (white)’ tire, which will be utilized in all official Superkarts! USA events (except for the TaG Cadet class, which will remain on the MG-HZ ‘red’ tires). The new MG-SK tire is based on the proven and popular FZ compound, with only a small compound change put into effect to extend the durability of the tire. The new tire also comes with the official ‘SKUSA’ markings in the mold, further cementing the connection between the two companies.

“Our long relationship with Tom Kutscher and Superkarts! USA is extremely important to us and we’re very happy to have been able to continue our partnership,” offers Wagner Rossi, the owner of WR Motorsports, the North American importer for MG Tires.  “We are excited to see SKUSA’s continuing growth with their Pro Tour and, of course, the SuperNationals in Las Vegas. In working with Tom for 2011, we have made a slight compound adjustment at his request to provide their racers with increased durability in the new MG-SK, and we know that everyone will be very pleased with this year’s race tire.”

Rear Protection:
Effective January 1, 2011, all competitors in SKUSA events are required to have full width rear protection (see below).  We realize that some may not have time to install the necessary protection by the first PKC events this year. Accordingly, we will allow an additional period for competitors to conform.  By the second scheduled race in both regions, you will be required to have the rear protection installed.
