PKRA Pit Spot Reservations

Reserving Your Pit Spot

As always, the toughest part for the SKUSA staff in organizing large events each year is laying out and fitting everyone into the pits!

This year is no different, as our SpringNationals event at Phoenix Kart Racing Association circuit in Glendale, AZ will likely see the largest participation yet for a Pro Tour weekend! ALL RACERS or TEAM OWNERS can do their part now by reserving the space they will need (as well as encouraging all drivers to get pre-registered for the event – before their classes cap out at 40).

Early Pit Placement

For teams and racers who wish to arrive early to test, PKRA will be offering reserved pit spaces effective 4/20/18. Please contact Bernie Lacotta (623) 225-9407 for information of dates and times for testing. Teams who wish to pit in their reserved space for the SpringNationals must arrive between 8am-5pm on 4/26, 27 or 28. A SKUSA representative will be on hand to place you in your reserved pit space. In order to qualify for this early placement, you must have all your drivers registered and a paid receipt from SKUSA defining your space for the SpringNationals. 

Teams testing prior to 4/26 will need to arrange and pay for overnight parking with PKRA, and may leave their trailers in the outer parking lot and await SKUSA placement on the weekend of 4/26 or beginning 5/1. NO EXCEPTIONS. All fees for testing and reserved pit spaces prior to 5/3 are paid to PKRA.

Reserved pit spaces for event week and teams requesting placement in the same space on 4/26 need to read and complete the following.

The price of all pit spots for event week will be $.30/SF for the first 3 rows, and $.20/SF for the 4th row. The paddock area will be rows of pit spots all 12’W x 40’D so your drawing should reflect multiples of this size. It is also a good idea to specify your top 3 choices for the pit spot locations you prefer (i.e., 23-27, 133-136, etc), based on the pit map posted below.

NOTE: The event & class sponsors will receive priority pit spot placement, so be sure to note on your pit request if you are a sponsor. What to include on your pit request is described below.
  • Full layout - with dimensions in feet - of your total pit area. PLEASE BE EXACT, AND DO NOT REQUEST MORE SPACE THAN YOU TRULY NEED. You will probably NOT be able to add space when you arrive.
  • Include where tents will go, trailers, E-Z ups, VIP area, etc.
  • Include space for trailer tongue and doors.
  • Include a team name and a list of the drivers that will be pitting in the spot. NOTE: Please send your pit map when it is absolutely final. All drivers MUST be registered for the race before SKUSA will confirm your pit spot location. In the event that there are multiple teams in one pit area, a designated team manager/ representative must be named as the person responsible for tent and trailer placement. We will NOT park teams on site unless and until ALL trailers are present. Or unless the team manager is present. (Only Exception)
  • Teams that want to Guarantee they are pitted next to or near each other MUST submit their pit request as ONE COMPLETE REQUEST to SKUSA at the same time with a specific note on each drawing, initialed by person submitting the request telling us that preference. NOTE: Following this process will allow us to achieve this goal but will reduce the ability to fulfill specific requests. If this is being requested by a sponsor, or team manager the sponsor/manager must submit the request and be responsible for the entire pit invoice.
  • Include your contact name and best daytime contact info on your drawing (phone and email).
  • Tell us whether or not you'll be renting a tent, bringing your own, or both. See below for vendor info.
  • Include the arrival date. (Weekend of 4/26 or per the event move in schedule)
We will be in touch to confirm each pit reservation submitted, and will secure payment with you when we have you placed on the pit map.

NOTE: NO passenger vehicles will be allowed in the pits, so please do not include them in your layout. No golf carts will be allowed in the pits, leave them home! Toy Haulers will be allowed in the pits, but only for working out of during event hours. NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PITS AT ALL FOR THIS EVENT (not even in Toy Haulers).




Tents

The EXCLUSIVE rental tent and rental equipment vendor for this event will be CLASSIC PARTY RENTALS. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to get options, pricing and to make arrangements. Their estimated tent price is approx. $.65/SF for tent canopies (walls are extra, delivery & pickup fees may apply). They also offer other rental items such as tables, chairs, food service items, and heating/cooling equipment. NOTE: You will want to confirm your pit space with the SKUSA office prior to finalizing your tent rental, although it’s a good idea to check tent availability and pricing right away in order to submit the most accurate pit layout.

Trailer Storage

If you have a trailer that will be used for transporting karts and equipment only, and does not need to be parked inside of the pit area, there will be a $25 fee to store it in a secured outer lot of this facility. Please add that note to your pit spot request to give SKUSA advanced notice. If this trailer is delivered early, you will need to arrange for storage with PKRA.

Schedule

SKUSA Pre-Event pit move in will be from 8am -5pm on 4/26, 27 & 28. Event pit move-in will begin on Tuesday at noon, May 1st with the big rigs and must be complete by 6pm on Thursday, May 3rd. Information on pre-event testing days can be found on our Venue Info and Event Schedule pages. Move out will begin Sunday night, May 6th, after the final podium presentation (approx. 6pm). All trailers will need to be out of the pits by end of day Monday, May 7th. Tent install dates: Mon-Tues, April 30th & May 1st. Tent tear down: Monday, 5/7. Any move-in prior to this time will need to arrange for storage with PKRA.

NO ON-SITE CAMPING

Unfortunately, due to flood zone restrictions in the area, there will be no overnight camping allowed within the pit area for this event. 

OFF-SITE CAMPING

None-Hook Up Camping is allowed a short distance from the track on Victory Lane Softball complex for $50/day. Contact Bernie Lacotta (623) 225-9407 for information and fees.
