Once again, I will be running live race coverage from the Timing and Scoring tower.  There will be a MyLaps monitor feed (15 sec refresh) for the on track action and a live blog that will allow a moderated two way communication, as well as a record of the event for those that can't watch the monitor all day long.  I will be posting unofficial results directly after each on track session.  Official results will be available at the end of the event via the Results Page.

Official Highlight Video of National Guard SuperNationals XII
Tuesday, 31 March 2009 11:38
In what many are calling one of the largest, most epic kart races on North American soil – the 12th annual National Guard SuperNationals was arguably the best SuperNats ever. With an international field of competitors and unprecedented levels of prizes and promotion – the race underscored the potential of elevating karting to mainstream awareness.

Though the race is long over, SKUSA has partnered with polepositionproductions.com to release an official highlight video documenting the historic weekend. After several weeks of editing and compiling the footage, both parties are proud to debut the finished piece:

The video is also available for download, free of charge, allowing anyone with interest to archive a copy of the video. Its universal MPG video format lets viewers watch the clips on a myriad of devices – including, iPods, iPhones, XBOX’s, AppleTV’s, or just about any other medium.

“It’s about getting the awareness out there,” commented SKUSA CEO Tom Kutscher. “Everyone talks about awareness, but someone has to take the bull by the horns and show people what we’re doing.” The free video is also easily linked, embedded, and shared via free web video web sites. “Basically we’re not only allowing people to share or download it, we’re encouraging it,” added an elated Kutscher.

While official announcements of the 2009 SuperNationals have yet to be made, the excitement is already building in the SKUSA offices. With the 2008 race video now available, that anticipation is expected to build feverishly.

PKC SoCal Hits Grange Motor Circuit
Tuesday, 31 March 2009 10:47
The third round of the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge South was a day of firsts for many at the Grange Motor Circuit in Apple Valley, California. The March 28 event saw over 60 competitors on hand for the 8/10-mile circuit, four of which – including PKC TaG Senior newcomer Bobby Kelley – earned their first victory of the 2009 PKC South season in four classes that have seen no repeat winners. On the flip side, hotshoe Jacob Neal duplicated his performance in round two by scoring two wins once again, while Phil Conte bagged his second straight victory in his division.

As he did last month at the Willow Springs event, Neal would run double duty on the day to compete in the S1 and S3 divisions. The S1 portion of the event was perfect for Neal, as he showed the way in every on-track session from qualifying to the main event. Neal took the feature win by nearly five seconds over Peter Abba and Imran Hussain.

In S3, the day began in the right direction, with Neal securing the top qualifier position by a tenth of a second over Patrick Cushenberry and Bobby Legate, who sat second and first in the standings heading into the weekend. Although he rolled onto the track late, Neal was improperly allowed to start in pole position, and therefore continued on to take the opening heat win by over two seconds, with Cushenberry in second of round two runner-up Jimmy McNeil. To correct the heat 1 start, Neal agreed to a sixth grid position start in the second heat (with the agreement of the rest of the drivers). He was able to work back up to third – but not have enough for the lead as McNeil took the win over Cushenberry with a late race pass.  Read Full Story on EKN.
