California ProKart Challenge

SKUSA’s ProKart Challenge Announces Mazda As Series Presenting Sponsor
Wednesday, 28 March 2007 17:00

Mazda Motorsports has signed on to be the presenting sponsor of Superkarts! USA's So Cal region ProKart Challenge beginning this weekend, as the series takes over the CalSpeed Karting Center in Fontana CA for the fourth round of the ten race championship. Mazda joins PKC title sponsor Eagle One Racing / Hi-Tech Engines and a bevy of class sponsors in 2007 including, Mothers Polish, MG Tires, KLS Racing, Keller Williams Realty, American Home Mortgage, Blue Agave Southwestern Grill, Big O Tires, RLV, SSC Racing, HitchHiker Kart Stands, FX Racing/Trackmagic, Classy Auto Detailing, Russell Karting and Absolute Screenprint.

Think Mazda is serious about kart racing? You bet, and so are some of the standouts in Mazda sanctioned series such as Alan Sciuto in Formula Atlantic, and Lorenzo Mandarino in Star Mazda. Look for both in the pits this weekend at CalSpeed.

PKC sanctioned practice begins tomorrow as the gates open at 7:30 AM. Arrive early Saturday for the racing action: gates open at 6:30AM. Heat One racing begins at 11:00AM. If you haven't already entered the event you can do so all day Friday and on Saturday morning.

Special TaG Senior Award
ProKart Challenge and Mazda will provide the opportunity of a lifetime for PKC TaG Sr. driver. Details are forthcoming, but it is expected that a seat in a soon-to-be announced MAZDASPEED Motorsports sanctioned - Skip Barber Series “shootout’ amongst a select group of kart racers nationwide will be reserved for a ProKart TaG Sr. participant. The shootout is expected to take place near 2007 season’s end and will be awarded based on evaluation by the PKC staff and an individual(s) from Mazda Motorsports North American division to the most deserving candidate. Driving ability, determination, and poise, both in and out of the kart, will be the foundation of the judge’s driver-selection criteria. Each and every TaG Sr. driver entered in a ProKart event beginning this weekend through the end of the season will be considered. PKC staff will be taking notes at each event to facilitate the selection process. The winner will be announced sometime at the end of the ProKart Challenge season. More details to follow shortly.
