Northwest ProKart Challenge Kicks Off This Weekend at Pat’s Acres Racing Complex
Wednesday, 16 May 2012 12:52
A new era begins this weekend as the revamped Northwest ProKart Challenge (NWPKC) kicks off its 2012 season. The popular Pat’s Acres Racing Complex in Canby, Oregon will host rounds one and two of the six-event series. Formerly known as the I-5 Corridor Series, the program is now an official Superkarts! USA regional series in addition to continuing its relationship with the United States Rotax Max Challenge. The series boasts a focused class structure with emphasis on plenty of track time, and Northwest ProKart Challenge organizers are striving to offer nothing but the best for karters in the area.

“It’s an exciting time here and I can’t wait for the 2012 Northwest ProKart Challenge to begin,” stated series director Chris Egger. “Our facility has a long and joyful history with the Superkarts! USA organization and we are happy to reunite once again. It’s great that we are able to combine that with our popular Rotax Max Challenge program that we have offered. It’s the best of both worlds, in my opinion. We have shown for many years now the talent here in the Pacific Northwest has to offer the sport of karting and I’m sure that the series will help to groom the current and future stars.”

A major player in the motorsports industry, Honda Performance Development (HPD) has announced that they will continue their support of the karting ranks. The popular Honda CR125 engine is the backbone of shifterkart racing in the United States and HPD is once again giving back to the karting community with a number of contingency programs for the 2012 season. HPD is working specifically with the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour, California ProKart Challenge, Northwest Karting Challenge, the World Karting Association, the Rock Island Grand Prix and their ‘Spec Honda’ classes. In total, Honda Performance Development will award $17,000 in cash and ‘HPD Bucks’ to racers across the country.

Competitors in the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour Stock Honda categories - S1, S2, S4, and S5 - will have a chance at the $6,400 in cash awards from HPD toward the season championship standings. Each category will see the champion receive $750, vice-champion $500, and third $350. At the SKUSA SuperNationals XVI in Las Vegas, HPD will have an engine raffle for the S2 podium drivers, one to receive a new CR125 Engine Kit, worth $2,500. The California ProKart Challenge, the current longest running SKUSA regional program, will see all five Stock Honda categories (S1 through S5) earn HPD Bucks at the end of the season. The champion in each class will receive $200, runner-up $100, with third place $75. A Honda EU1000i Generator is to be raffled off at the banquet with a new CR125 Top End Kit raffled per event.

Superkarts! USA Returns to Pacific Northwest
Thursday, 12 January 2012 11:44
For many racers in the Pacific Northwest, the annual November pilgrimage to the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is the culmination of a season’s worth of hard work and preparation. In response to the growing field of SKUSA racers in the PNW, the promoters of this new program are proud to announce the formation of the Northwest Karting Challenge. The program will be a five-weekend, 10-race series hosted by two of the northwest’s premier karting facilities, Pat’s Acres Racing Complex and PGP Motorsports Park.

“I am very excited to be back to where it all started, Superkarts! USA,” offered Pat’s Acres owner and series promoter Chris Egger. “I’m thrilled to be back under the SKUSA umbrella for our series and our shifterkart customers. SKUSA has a lot to offer right now and we are glad to be a part of it. Having been involved in the shifterkart explosion back in the late 90's, I‘m looking forward to being part of the regional resurgence that is happening around the country. This is a big step for the shifterkart pilots in our region!”
