Friday, 25 June 2010 01:00 |
![]() Taking a two-year lay off of racing for college, the talented local shifterkart driver returned to make his debut at the SKUSA MR program in S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto. His debut put him at the top of the time sheets as he secured the pole position with a 51.656-lap, over two-tenths quicker than Cory Milne and Christian Bird. Kistler went flag-to-flag in both 10-lap heat races by a comfortable margin over Milne with round one winner James Michael Sullivan and Sabre Cook each running third. The 20-lap main event was all Kistler as he led each lap to score the victory by 12-seconds over Cook with Milne taking the final podium spot over Logan Jones and Sullivan. The TaG Senior division was a more hotly contested battle for the top spot with Mackey and Cook, as the talented female driver ran double duty. Mackey struck first, edging out Cook for the pole position in qualifying by 87-thousandths with a lap time of 54.255. Cook got the jump to begin the first heat race, leading all 10 laps to edge Mackey at the line by just 13-thousandths for the win. Mackey returned the favor in heat two, getting the run from outside row one to take the lead and score the win by 0.835-seconds. The two continued their fight into the main event where they exchanged the top spot a number of times. On lap 12, Mackey secured the spot for good and was able to stretch away for the victory in his series debut. Cook would settle for second with Garrett Edmunds completing the podium. ![]() The S4 Master Stock Moto division looked to be a second straight win for series leader Mike McDonough. Taking top honors in qualifying, McDonough would come away with wins in both heat races despite pressure from Jet Davis. The main event however would be all Davis as he got away clean at the line and began posting fast laps to outrun McDonough for his first series victory. Charles Gordon took third for a second straight event to keep himself in the chase for the point title. In TaG Master, Ron Reed had the event sweep in hand heading into the feature race when he encountered a mechanical issue, leaving Scott Berryman to score the victory. David Conyers (G1), Xavier Romero (S3 Novice Stock Moto), Jacob Edison (TaG Junior), Tate Holleran (TaG Cadet) and Lucas Hannabass (Local Option Cadet) all went unchallenged to victories in their respective classes. ![]() For those who have questions or would like to find out more information about the SKUSA Mountain Region program, visit http://www.skusamountainregion.com or http://www.skusamr.com It is recommended that regional competitors submit their membership and license applications to SKUSA headquarters as soon as possible.
