With the Spring season now upon us, the final details for the 2011 Superkarts! USA Central States Challenge (SCSC) season are wrapping up with another strong year of racing on the horizon. One of the final pieces to come together was the recent announcement of its participation in the new Mazda Road to Indy Scouting Combine. The SKUSA regional program is part of a regional karting ‘grassroots’ partnership and will be sending one driver to the Andersen Race Park in Palmetto, Florida on November 28-30, where drivers will be given the opportunity to test a USF2000 car.

 

Drivers 15 years old and over competing in the SKUSA Central States Challenge shifterkart classes will be among those who have a chance to be part of this new grassroots relationship through the Mazda Road to Indy. In order to be eligible, drivers will have to compete at all six rounds of the race series. Details regarding how the series representative will be selected are to be released in the future.

Our program includes some of the best drivers from the country and we are happy to be able to offer this chance to one of them.”

 

The 2011 SKUSA Central States Challenge is slated to contest a six round championship over the course of five weekends during the months of May through September, covering Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana with drivers all over the Great Lakes and Plains states participating. 

 

Round one for the 2011 season will take the competitors to be part of a new event for the series - the 17th annual Anderson Mayor’s Cup Grand Prix on May 15. The Anderson Sertoma Club has hosted the event in numerous locations throughout the city limits of Anderson, Indiana, with this year’s circuit to be constructed outside the Anderson Mounds Mall. The two day event will be separated into two events. Saturday’s action will be a non-points event to give competitors a full day of action with all proceeds going to numerous charity partners of the Sertoma Club. Sunday’s action will be the first official round of the SCSC series alongside the Great Lakes Pro Series.

 

A month later, round two will take the series back to the famous and historic TNT Kartways. The West Quincy, Missouri area is rich with karting history and famous events from its past with many of the greats in the sport competing at the 1/4-mile TNT Kartways circuit. The facility is moving into a new generation of the sport but still carries its prestige and respect of current karters. The event will follow the standard SKUSA Central States Challenge two-day format with practice and qualifying taking place on Saturday followed by the Prefinal and Final on Sunday. 

 

The next stop is a return trip to Indiana and a second co-hosted event with the Great Lakes Pro Series, set for the New Castle Motorsports Park on July 23-24. Labeled as the best karting facility in North America by many, the 1-mile circuit will be host to a double round event with Saturday tabbed as round three and Sunday results counted toward round four of the series championship. Central States Challenge will be offering a two-for-one price package for those who enter to race Saturday’s round. Competitors who enter for Saturday’s events will be given a free entry for Sunday’s round. Those only competing one day will still be required to pay the normal fees. 

 

Round five is another series favorite and home to many of the series regulars - I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mobile casinos are designed specifically for use on Windows, Blackberry, iOS, and Android devices. The series finale, scheduled for September 23-25, is still in the planning process. Details have yet to be finalized and will be released once the plans have been completed.

 

The class structure for 2011 will be similar to last year’s program. Utilizing the SKUSA foundation, the S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto, S4 Master Stock Moto, G1 and S5 Junior Stock Moto will make up the shifterkart divisions while TaG Senior, TaG Junior and TaG Cadet will fill the need for Touch and Go engine categories. The TaG Cadet will differ from the standard SKUSA engine selections with the Mini Swift engine allowed once again for 2011. Local option classes will include Yamaha Junior, Yamaha Rookie, and Kid Karts.
