Race Numbers

Please refer to the Race Numbers and Panels page for all details of our new and simplified kart numbering system. Race Numbers and Race Number Panels are TECH ITEMS and Non-Compliance will be subject to PENALTIES.

Push-Back Bumpers

Push-Back Bumpers are not required at this time for Great Lakes PKC competition.

Stock Honda Classes

  • Honda Timing Plate: The use of the blue SKUSA stock Honda timing plate is mandated effective February 1, 2014. These are available thru most engine builders as well as the SKUSA online store. See rule 20.3.2.14.2.
  • Exhaust Pipes: Only the SK-1 pipe will be allowed effective February 1, 2014, and are available thru the authorized dealers.
  • Air boxes are required for all Spec Honda classes at Santa Maria, according to track rules. You can use up to three (3) 29mm +/- 1mm tubes.

X30 Junior, X30 Senior, X30 Master/Super Master: Only IAME X30 Engines allowed


Series Points/Drops

Points will be accrued each event day per the SKUSA rulebook, for a total of eight (8) points events. The series will allow a drop of the worst two (2) point finishes.

Neck Brace rule

Neck braces are only mandatory for the SKUSA junior categories (including S5, Mini Swift, Micro Swift, and X30 Junior). See Rulebook section 10.4.2.3.

Chest Protector rule

All Drivers under 13 years of age must have an SFI specification 20.1 approved chest protector at all times while on-track, per Rulebook section 10.4.2.6.

Rear Protection

All competitors in SKUSA events are required to have full width rear protection. See Rulebook section 20.2.4.4.

SKUSA On-board Camera Registration Policy

All cameras used at SKUSA events must be registered prior to use and have the SKUSA inspection sticker clearly visible on the camera body. See the Tech Director to register your camera. Additionally, each camera must be clearly marked with the owner’s name and mobile phone number. Cameras without identification may not be returned. Loss of the camera on the racing surface may result in penalties, including loss of positions, loss of points, and/or monetary fines. Rule 20.2.7.2.2. Identification.

Spec Tires

  • A total of two (2) front and two (2) rear Race Tires are allowed EACH RACE DAY (SAT/SUN) for classes running the Evinco M/Red
  • A total of two (2) front and two (2) rear Race Tires are allowed PER EVENT (BOTH RACE DAYS) for classes running the Evinco H/Blue
  • Race Tires are defined as "stamped" and/or “barcode scanned” spec tires purchased from PKC. To insure availability, Race Tires should be ordered from PKC prior to the Wednesday immediately preceding the event. Race Tires may be ordered for pickup at the event or drop-shipped prior to the event to locations within the continental US.
  • The Evinco “M” Red tire is the spec Race Tire and the only slick that can be used in qualifying, heats, and mains for all shifter classes and senior X30 classes.. The Evinco “H” Blue tire is the spec Race Tire for Mini & Micro Swift, all KA classes, and X30 Junior.
  • In the event that a 'rain race' is declared by the race director, the official spec 'rain' tire is the MG-WT "wet" tire ONLY (although the older MG-WZ rain tire will also be allowed). If such tires are used during a competition session, they will be marked by the technical officials at the end of the session and will be the only set of rain tires the competitor may use for the balance of the event. Either new or previously used MG-WT (or MG-WZ) rain tires may be utilized, and do not need to be "stamped" by the PKC Tire Desk.
  • The PKC Tire Desk will be open on Friday practice days per the posted event schedule. Competitors are required to pick up their set of stamped Race Tires (slicks) during these time periods.. Only Race Tires (slicks) received from the PKC Tire Desk are eligible for competition at each event.
  • ractice tires should be the Spec Evinco tires described above. The new spec Evinco tires for use as practice tires can be purchased from PKC/SKUSA or any authorized distributor.

Spec Fuel and Oil

  • Effective 3/17/16, VP C12 is now the spec fuel that must be used at all PKC events for ALL classes, including X30 and Mini/Micro Swift.
  • Motul 2T Kart Grand Prix is the spec oil.
  • PKC is not providing spec fuel or oil for their events. Competitors are responsible for bringing their own fuel and oil.

Practice and Qualifying -- All Classes

  • Transponders are required beginning with the 3rd practice session on Friday, and all practice and race competition sessions on Saturday. You will not be allowed on the track Saturday without a transponder and will be black-flagged if passings are not being registered (consistent with your assigned transponder code) in the T&S system.
  • Anyone who misses their qualifying session or is in the wrong qualifying session will be assigned a “no time” and start at the back of the field in their respective class for their next competition session.

Engine Changes

See section 20.3.1.5.3 of the SKUSA Rulebook, along with the additional clarifications below:
  1. The engine seal number (received in Registration) shall be entered by each driver on the Pre-Tech Certification form that is turned in prior to the first competition session (i.e., qualifying), and installed on the kart as instructed. This seal must remain in place for the duration of the event. See the event Technical Director for additional assistance.
  2. Engines and/or components may also be "painted" by the event technical staff at the post qualifying weigh-in.
  3. Event technical staff may inspect an engine's seal number and/or "paint" at any time during the event.
  4. Any engine change subsequent to qualifying MUST be pre-approved by the event Tech Director and if not, will result in a DQ and loss of points for ALL prior race sessions and a last place start in the next race session.
  5. It is solely the driver's responsibility to solicit and receive an engine change approval form from and executed by the event Tech Director. It is also the driver’s responsibility to demonstrate engine damage in order to get Tech Director approval to change engines. If the competitor is unable to demonstrate damage, one additional engine (total of 2) may be approved by the event Technical Director. If approved, the competitor will start the next competition session at the back of the lineup.

Chassis Seals

All chassis must be sealed for competition by qualifying on the first day of competition. Chassis seals will be available with your entry and can be picked up in registration.

Pre-Tech

PKC employs a self-certification form to facilitate pre-tech inspection, and this form will be provided at Registration. The driver completes and signs the form to certify that the listed items are in compliance. The form is then submitted on the grid for qualifying. Drivers are not allowed out for qualifying without turning in an executed pre-tech form. Spot checks of safety items will be made throughout the event and violations may result in penalty assessments. Check the event information to download latest version.
