Rule Clarification – Stock Honda Cylinder Declaration Print

Recently we issued a revision to our rules regarding the use of cylinders for all Stock Honda classes. The intent of the new rule is similar to our TAG class rules where only one engine brand change per competition year is allowed.

After receiving input from competitors we decided to clarify the rule.
  • Cylinders are defined by two groups regardless of the actual year of the cylinder. Either 1997-1999 (early) or 2000-2002 (late).
  • If you have a damaged cylinder, you will not be allowed to change to the other cylinder group.
  • Regional series are “stand alone.” Pro Tour -- the three race series including the SuperNationals -- is also to be considered “stand alone.” You select the cylinder group you wish to run at the first event of the series and continue to run that group for the remainder of the year.
Basically, we feel that the concept of having a certain cylinder type that might possibly be a few tenths faster at a given track, and the considerable expense and testing involved to determine that, is not a desirable situation for the majority of our competitors. We believe that the time, expense and effort would be better spent in getting the chassis right and improving the driver’s skill level.
