SKUSA Stock Honda Carbs
Written by John Motley - National Technical Director
Tuesday, 07 September 2010 13:32
We have had an increasing number of inquiries regarding the use of “Air Striker” carbs and other Kehin variations of carburetors for use in Stock Honda classes.

While we try to keep rules changes to a minimum, there occasionally are issues that require clarification or change.  Whenever possible we reach out to stake holders such as competitors and engine builders prior to making changes. We have done so in the following rules update effective October 1, 2010.

Our previous changes to the class have all been to reduce costs and equalize competition. We have mandated stock, readily available, reasonably priced components for these classes.  These changes have been almost universally welcomed.

In keeping with this philosophy we are issuing the following carburetor specifications for all Stock Honda classes, including S5:

Central States Challenge Set for Back-to-Back Weekends to Close Out 2010
Thursday, 02 September 2010 07:14
The final leg of the 2010 season is just around the corner for the Superkarts! USA Central States Challenge. The final two weeks will complete its third season as a SKUSA regional program with the seventh and final round to take place September 11-12 at the I-55 Speedway karting track in Pevely, Missouri. With many of the regular series competitors calling the 0.55-mile course their home track, the competition level is sure to be at its best as the championships for the eight series categories will be decided.

Prior to traveling to the facility located south of downtown St. Louis, the series will be in attendance at this weekend’s Rock Island Grand Prix in the Quad Cities area. Considered to be the world’s largest street race, a number of SCSC competitors will be in attendance to bring home the coveted ‘Rock’ trophy. SKUSA Central States Challenge will be supporting the eKartingNews.com Trackside Live (www.ekartingnews.com/live) broadcast throughout the two-day event over Labor Day weekend.

Crockett and Weber Continue Winning Streak in Central States Challenge
Friday, 27 August 2010 00:00
The penultimate round of the 2010 Superkarts! USA Central States Challenge took the program to a new facility - the Precision Driving Center outside Kansas City - over the August 21-22 weekend. The event brought together series regulars and local stars in seven categories around the multi-configuration circuit.

The event, however, began with troubling news as the Mayton family - from Flint Hill, MO - was involved in a major accident on Interstate-70 near Columbia Friday night traveling to the Kansas City area for the event. Austin Mayton, the point leader in the TaG Cadet category heading into the event - along with his parents (John and Rebecca) and two-year old brother (Drew) - were traveling in their RV when the incident occurred. Rebecca was driving the vehicle and sustained serious injuries and had to be extracted from the driver seat. While all John, Austin and Drew walked away with minor scraps and bruises, Rebecca suffered two collapsed lungs and severely broken legs among other injuries. Since being transported to the hospital, she has undergone a number of surgeries. Recent updates have her breathing on her own however the condition of her broken legs is still questionable. The entire Central States Challenge family sends their thoughts and prayers to the Mayton family and hope for a full and speedy recovery for Rebecca.

The 2010 season is nearing the end, thus attention is turning to the crucial moments in the remaining events of the Superkarts! USA Central States Challenge (SCSC). The sixth round of the seven race series will take place at the new Precision Karting Center in Kansas City, Missouri on August 21-22. The facility is a 54-acre complex designed for transportation, public safety and student driver training. Karting has been taking place at the location since the end of 2009 with a local series running each month throughout 2010. With the combination of the local talent and the regional competitors of the Central States Challenge, the upcoming event is sure to witness great racing over the two days.

“We are excited to be heading to Kansas City for round six of the series,” stated Pam Freund of the SKUSA Central States Challenge. “Our racers are coming off a busy month in July with our double header at USA International Raceway and the SKUSA SummerNationals the following weekend. This time off has charged them up for the final stretch when we crown our champions next month.”
