Superkarts! USA Announces Massive Prize Package for 2019 Pro Tour
Tuesday, 29 January 2019 11:26

The 2019 season marks the 10th year of the sport’s only national series – the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour. Initially launched in April of 2010, the SKUSA Pro Tour has grown throughout the previous nine seasons of competition, creating lasting memories, establishing current stars in the sport, developing drivers for the professional ranks, and all while remaining the premier championship series in North America. From the very first season, the weekend and year-end prize package has been a focal point for the organization, and this approach continues into the 2019 season with a staggering $162,000 prize purse for this year’s series, supported significantly by SKUSA’s passionate partners at MG Tires.

“From the day that I stepped in, we have been about giving back to the racers,” stated Superkarts! USA principal Tom Kutscher. “This is our 10th anniversary of the SKUSA Pro Tour, and we wanted to make sure the racers were rewarded for their support and their success on the track. Our staff spoke with a number of the race teams, competitors and families who have supported what we do year after year, and we tailored our prize package around their input as best we could. This is a prize package you can’t match anywhere, and I’m thankful to have our partners at MG Tires on-board with our efforts.”

Superkarts! USA Confirms Tire Change for X30 Junior
Tuesday, 22 January 2019 10:18

The 2019 racing season is officially underway for the Superkarts! USA program, as their track team hosted the first major event of the calendar year, launching the second year of the SKUSA Winter Series in Florida. Following the upcoming series finale in February at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires, all of SKUSA’s attention will turn to the tenth season of the SKUSA Pro Tour and their growing ProKart Challenge programs for 2019.

The new season is one of adjustment, specifically in the class structure area. One of the major updates is the move to the Evinco Blue “H” spec tire for the X30 Junior division. Since the introduction of the Evinco tires into Superkarts! USA competition, the category has followed the same compound as the other X30 categories, utilizing the Evinco Red “M” tire. The Blue “H” is a harder compound for the X30 Junior drivers, and is the same tire required in the KA100 Senior and KA100 Junior categories.

EKN Trackside: SKUSA Winter Series –Homestead #1 Sunday Report

With the excellent weekend weather continuing in South Florida, Superkarts! USA capped the opening event of their Winter Series program on Sunday with tremendous racing coming from all of the 11 race categories that were on the docket. The layout at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires offers many overtaking opportunities and the competitors leveraged all of them throughout the day to keep things exciting. Rolison Performance Group’s new recruit Ryan Norberg put his skills on display, coming back from a disappointing last lap loss on Saturday to flat out dominate the X30 Senior action on Sunday. Likewise, Croc Promotion USA’s AJ Myers remained unbeatable in the Pro Shifter class, winning again over Billy Musgrave. With over 230 entries filling the paddock, the SKUSA Winter Series did not disappoint in terms of competition and thrilling on-track action.

In the PSL Karting sponsored X30 Senior class, Norberg (Kosmic) dropped the hammer at the start of the weekend’s first session on Saturday and never lifted, qualifying on pole to set up his Prefinal win. The American led 24 of the 25 laps in the main, only to get nipped by 2018 World Karting Champion Lorenzo Travisanutto (Kart Republic) on the final lap. Highly motivated to take care of unfinished business, Norberg dominated the Sunday action in sweeping all three sessions, completing the attack with a 0.933-second win over his teammate Patrick Woods-Toth (Kosmic). Competing in his first national event as a Senior, the 15-year-old Canadian qualified sixth and then won his Prefinal over last year’s SKUSA Pro Tour X30 Junior champion Arias Duekmedjian (Praga) to secure an outside front row starting spot. Woods-Toth slotted quickly into second behind Norberg and the duo proceeded to drive away from the field, finishing 1-2 with a three-second back to third. Woods-Toth also posted the fast lap of the race to earn the bonus points towards the championship. Leading Edge Motorsports’ Duekmedjian completed the podium, wrapping up a tremendous Senior debut as he overtook KartSport North America’s Travisanutto at one point to advance to third. Travisanutto just did not have the pace he enjoyed on Saturday, taking fourth ahead of CRG Nordam’s Olin Galli (CRG).  Read full story on eKartingNews.com.

The opening round of the 2019 Superkarts! USA Winter Series enjoyed beautiful blue skies and mid-70s temperatures at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires on Saturday, as the track played host to over 230 drivers to kick off the new season. A strong field of over 50 competitors in X30 Senior was topped by reigning world champion Lorenzo Travisanutto (Kart Republic), who passed SKUSA #1 driver Ryan Norberg (Kosmic) on the final lap. In Pro Shifter, AJ Myers (Croc Promotion) was absolutely perfect all day as he held off the constant pressure of his chief rival Billy Musgrave (Aluminos).

In PSL Karting X30 Senior, Travisanutto was not the dominant force throughout the day. That honor belonged to Norberg, who was intent on paying off Mike Rolison for the confidence that the team owner showed in signing the reigning SKUSA champ for the 2019 season after he ‘parted ways’ with PSL Karting. Norberg dominated qualifying, topping impressive Senior rookie Arias Duekmedjian (Praga) by over a tenth. Canadian Patrick Woods-Toth was very quick as well, timing in third ahead of Jesus Rios Jr. (SoloKart) and Arthur Leist (Birel). Norberg and Rio won the two Prefinals that split the grid, qualifying the top-15 from each in the main. Felipe Nicoletti (Tony Kart) won the LCQ to start 31st in the main. EKN Trackside: 2019 SKUSA Winter Series – AMR Motorplex 1 Preview
Thursday, 10 January 2019 14:33

(Photo: On Track Promotions - otp.ca)

The 2019 karting season officially gets underway this weekend as the first event of the new year calendar is set to take place. Superkarts! USA has taken that honor for the last two years, as the second edition of the SKUSA Winter Series opens on January 11-13 at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires in South Florida. The popular track will welcome over 230 entries in 11 categories to tackle the 12-turn, 7/10-mile course located in the shadows of Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The EKN Trackside Live coverage during the weekend will hit all of our platforms, including our EKN Social Media pages, as well as our live broadcast which will be available at www.ekartingnews.com/live. Those not in attendance can listen to the race call while viewing the live timing as the event unfolds. The EKN Live program is possible thanks to our broadcast partners Courtney Concepts, Rolison Performance Group and Alan Rudolph Racing Academy.

The big story of the event is the competition debut of the new IAME SSE engine through Superkarts! USA in the Pro Shifter and Master Shifter divisions. The 175cc, six-speed engine has been in development for over two years as SKUSA looks to provide the shifterkart engine of the future. Teams and drivers have been grabbing up engines and testing aggressively since they hit the market in late 2018, all in preparation for this season. 2018 SKUSA Pro Tour champion AJ Myers begins the 2019 season carrying the prestigious #1 SKUSA plate aboard his Mad Old Nut / Mad Croc machine. Myers has the home track advantage and will be tough to beat. Top contenders include Florida driver Mathias Ramirez, who is making his return to PSL / Birel ART for 2019. \ 2018 SKUSA Winter Series S2 Semi-Pro Stock Honda champion Rory van der Steur (CPI / Tony Kart), SKUSA #2 plate holder Kyle Wick (CRG Nordam) and Texas ProKart Challenge champion Max Hewitt (CRG Nordam) are among the young guns taking part in the IAME SSE debut. IndyCar and IMSA driver Sage Karam showed well in his return to karting at the SuperNationals last November, and he is back with iKart in his SKUSA Winter Series debut.
