California ProKart Challenge Honors 2013 Champions
Tuesday, 15 October 2013 10:39
With the final checkered flag waved on the 2013 season for the California ProKart Challenge’s ninth season, Superkarts! USA is happy to honor those drivers who achieved class championships and top honors in the championship chases. The flagship regional program for the North American organization has been the testing and proving ground for all of SKUSA’s revolutionary concepts over the last nine years. Coming up in a few weeks on November 2nd, the California PKC will welcome its teams, competitors and families to its year-end awards ceremony.

The old adage, “familiarity breeds contempt” could not be farther from how SKUSA operates their California ProKart Challenge. Even in its ninth year, California PKC racers were greeted with new challenges, exciting and unique events, and the best customer service in the state. Starting with record high entry numbers at round one in Buttonwillow, the series ran up and down the GoldenState before ending at one of the premiere street races in the country, the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix, with another record-breaking attendance mark set for the event.

SKUSA SuperNationals XVII Bulletin: S2 Semi-Pro Opens Up to 80 Drivers for SuperNationals XVII
Thursday, 03 October 2013 08:34
The 2013 SKUSA SuperNationals XVII continues to grow in numbers. The entry total for the event reached the 500 mark by the middle of September, and will now expand further with the opening of 40 more positions in the S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto category. Already sold out at 40 drivers, the category will increase to welcome up to 80 drivers for the November 20-24 event outside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The S2 class was among the first to fill up in the first 36 hours of registration for the event, and with a growing wait list, Superkarts! USA will now alter the weekend format to provide another time slot to expand the field. Two race groups for the S2 class will be utilized during the event, which will include a Last Chance Qualifier under the lights Saturday evening to decide the final few spots for the Super Sunday main event.

Drivers on the waiting list or those not yet signed up may now head to skusastore.com to submit their race entry today. A revised event schedule will be posted within the next few days.

EKN Trackside: Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix – Sunday Report
Tuesday, 01 October 2013 08:08
The final day went into the books for the 2013 Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix Sunday under bright sunny skies in the southern California city. Nearly 150 racers from coast to coast, throughout North America, took part in the fifth annual event that served as the finale weekend for the California ProKart Challenge in addition to a great tune-up event for the upcoming Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XVII in November. The headline shifterkart group, featuring the S1 Pro and S2 Semi-Pro categories, put 31 drivers on the 7/10-mile course with defending winners Fritz Leesmann and Augie Lerch coming out on top in their respective divisions. TaG Senior witness one driver move from the back to the front on Sunday as Chris Cricca recorded the big victory. The remaining categories welcomed new winners, all able to outlast and conquer the Streets of Lancaster.

During the podium ceremonies, Superkarts! USA and the City of Lancaster announced the winner of the California ProKart Challenge Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix Driver Scholarship program. EKN Trackside: Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix – Saturday Report
Sunday, 29 September 2013 07:04
Nearly 150 drivers make up the field for the 2013 Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix, and all had the pleasure of trying to tame the wild beast that is the street race. Under perfect racing weather conditions, the Superkarts! USA California ProKart Challenge series finale kicked off in the southern California city, with the first of the two-day event went into the books. Practice, qualifying and the first heat race were on the docket, in addition to the many VIP rental kart races taking place into the evening hours. The major goal for most of the drivers was to stay out of trouble. Some did, while some did not fair as well. One major incident involve TaG Senior driver, where a brake issue put him into the turn three wall very hard, coming away with a badly broken arm. Everyone in the karting community would like to wish him a safe and speedy recovery as he goes ahead. On the results side, a number of familiar faces found themselves at the front of the field with many of the same contenders from a year ago at the top of the order.

TaG Cadet
The TaG Cadet division was the first category to hit the track for qualifying on the day with a record 24 drivers taking to the course for the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix. A number of drivers take their turn at the point, as the track was getting faster with the session closing. Defending winner Hunter Kelly (Italcorse) held the provisional pole position with just three minutes remaining, and was able to get into the 40-second barrier in the shorten course for the young drivers. On the final lap, Kelly went even quicker as he laid down 40.922-second lap to secure the top spot. Trenton Sparks (FA Kart) was quicker the final circuit as well, moving up to second in the order to drop Wyatt Couch (Top Kart) to third. Jagger Jones (Tony Kart) and CPKC point leader Ryan Schartau (Top Kart) capping off the fast-five.

EKN Trackside: Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix – Preview
Sunday, 29 September 2013 06:59
This weekend marks the fifth running of the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix, held in the downtown district of the Southern California city. Roughly one hour north of downtown Los Angeles, over 100 karters from across North America will take part in what is also the final round of the California ProKart Challenge – the Superkarts! USA regional program. For a third straight year, the karting organization has promoted the September event in cooperation with the City of Lancaster to close out the regional racing season. The event is now drawing national attention, with big teams and major drivers traveling from across the continent to be part of the event.

The format is different from the regular California PKC events, as the Streets of Lancaster GP is a two-day event. Practice, qualifying and the opening heat race will be held on Saturday, with heat two and the main events scheduled for Sunday. The action in Lancaster will be hotly contested, with a number of big names in the headline category – S1 Pro Stock Moto – with 13 drivers schedule to compete. Reigning Pro Tour champion and defending SOLGP winner Fritz Leesmann (CRG) returns to add another victory to his growing resume. Veteran and longtime SKUSA racer Ron White (CRG) is making a return to the seat, competing once again in the S1 category. S1 Pro Tour rookie and defending S2 champ Sabré Cook (CRG) is in town from Colorado, using the Lancaster event as another tune-up for the SuperNationals, as is many of the competitors here this weekend. Another rookie is looking to seal the deal in his regional champion as Billy Musgrave (Tony Kart) enters the event with a lead over Jimmy McNeil (CRG) and Ryon Beachner (Tony Kart). Musgrave is not a driver to bet against on a street course either, thanks to his impressive victory in the S2 category at the SKUSA SuperNationals last November in Las Vegas.
