The 25th edition of the SKUSA SuperNationals will be the fourth year at which the KA100 Junior category has been offered. The 100cc craze is still booming after the class was introduced on the SKUSA Pro Tour and SuperNationals in 2018. Originally, the class was scheduled to be capped at 44 drivers this year, but numbers and interest continued to grow. For the first time in its four-year history, the class will offer an expanded roster, welcoming a whopping 65 drivers who will battle to become the fourth different winner. Cadet racing at the SKUSA SuperNationals was first introduced at the second edition of the event back in 1998 with the 60cc Novice shifter class. That category ran up to 2005 before the organization changed hands. It took the creation of the SKUSA Pro Tour in 2010 for Cadet racing to be back on the SuperNationals weekend schedule. Since then, a new winner in the TaG Cadet / Mini Swift categories has been crowned every year over this 11-race span. A 12th different winner will be crowned this SuperSunday and this driver will add his or her name to a distinct list that includes Formula 1, INDYCAR, and karting superstars. The Micro Swift category made its SuperNationals debut in 2016 at the Las Vegas Convention Center / Westgate Las Vegas Resort. The class has seen five different drivers from four countries earn the victory over that span, a timeline that has included three unique locations. The California ProKart Challenge completed the 2022 season over the October 1-2 weekend, signifying the end of two things. First, the sixth and final round of the Superkarts! USA regional program was contested at the CalSpeed Karting facility. Secondly, the Fontana, California facility hosted its final regional event prior to its closing later this year. CalSpeed has been the site to many Superkarts! USA events during its history, and the final chapter of that story helped to decide this year’s series champions. The backdrop was perfect with weather sunny and warm for the nearly 100 drivers competing over the two-day event on the ‘Classico’ layout.

History will be made this weekend during the 2022 California ProKart Challenge event at CalSpeed Karting. The event slated for October 1-2 is set to be the last major karting event at the Fontana, California circuit that resides outside the Auto Club Speedway. CalSpeed announced the closure of the facility coming this December, and thus, the California PKC event will be the final Superkarts! USA event in its long history.
On the other side of history will be the championships decided with the sixth and final round of the 2022 California ProKart Challenge. The ‘best five of six’ championship format will take the title chases to the very end, with drivers searching for additional points in the quest for the crown while others fight to remain at the top when the final checkered flag is waved following the main events on Sunday afternoon.
The tightest battle going into the finale weekend is in the KA100 Junior class presented by Nash Motorsportz. Only two points separate Keagan Kaminski and Charlie Smith with the one round remaining. Smith has one victory while Kaminski has gone winless through the first five rounds, earning four top-five results. Round One winner William Rasmussen is close behind in third with Alex Mercado fourth. Round Four winner Kane Martin still has a mathematical chance as well, sitting fifth. Ethan Lampe is the point leader heading into the final round in the HRT Driver Development KA100 Senior class. Lampe has three podium finishes on the season and leads by 60 points over two-time winner Blake Nash – who already has a drop by missing the opening round. Aiden Kempf is third with two-time winner Frankie Mossman in fourth, another driver with a drop already after missing Round Two. All that sets up for what should be an interesting run to the championship.
