Now just two weeks away from the opening day of competition for the SuperNationals XVI presented by MG Tires, Superkarts! USA is pleased to announce the current prize package for this year’s event. The 16th running of the SuperNationals, which is set to take place at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on November 14-18, will cap the third edition of the SKUSA Pro Tour series and will shell out roughly $100,000 in cash and prizes to make the event one of the most lucrative in North America in 2012.
The nearly $100,000 prize package includes cash, contingencies, SKUSA’s ‘Circle of Champions’ program, and numerous products that have been provided by a number of supporting companies. Nearly half of the value that is on the table in Vegas will be actual prize money, as an astounding $42,000 is set to be awarded on SuperSunday. The three ‘Pro’ classes on the schedule – S1, KZ2, and TaG Senior – will see the top-five awarded healthy checks for their accomplishments. The international KZ2 category will once again vie for a total purse of $20,000 – with a stunning $10,000 going to the victor. Both S1 and TaG Senior will be gunning for the $2,000 check that will be provided to the driver standing on the top spot of the podium, and the rest of the top-five in each category will split the balance of the $5,000 class purses. Another $12,000 will be awarded in the SKUSA Pro Tour Points Fund, as the champion in the S1 and TaG Senior categories will leave Vegas with a $3,000 paycheck. The vice-champion takes home $2,000 while the third place driver in the final standings will be awarded $1,000. As always, SKUSA’s Patti Kutscher will be providing the winners with the actual checks during the awards presentations on Sunday night – you won’t hear “the checks in the mail” with Superkarts! USA.

The countdown to the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XVI continues as the country’s largest karting event will begin in under three weeks. Entries continue to stream in ahead of the Thursday, November 1 closing date, filling up the final remaining spots in the nine categories that are set to compete during the week of November 14-18. Drivers will battle for the over $100,000 in cash and prizes that will be doled out on SuperSunday. In addition to the stacked line-up of prize money and awards, one of the primary constants for each of the expected 500-plus drivers in Las Vegas this year will be MG Tires. Since 2005, MG Tires has been the official tire of the SKUSA SuperNationals, and to further cement their continuing support of this great event, the Brazilian tire manufacturer has signed on as the title sponsor for the 16th annual running of the SuperNationals.
MG Tires is among the major kart tire manufacturers in the world, and they have invested heavily in research and development for over 20 years. The Brazilian company exports its products throughout North, Central and South America, Australia, and numerous countries in Europe. MG Tires has been the official tire of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour for the past three seasons, including the introduction of the MG ‘SKUSA’ White tire at the beginning of 2011. The continued support in 2012 began with MG Tires signing on as the title sponsor for the SKUSA SpringNationals, held at the PKRA Formula K Raceway in Phoenix back in April. The relationship between Superkarts! USA and MG Tires has helped both companies to grow steadily in recent years, and additional expansion is on the horizon.

A record-breaking 528 entries coming from well over 500 drivers highlighted last November’s running of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XV, which was held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This year’s event is just 44 days away, and the 16th running of the world’s largest karting event is set to once again break the entry records when the track goes hot on November 14. A total of nine categories will be offered during the five-day event, and before now the class maximums were set at either 40 or 80 drivers. Due to incredible interest in the race, TaG Senior will now break through this pre-set limit – as SKUSA has elected to open up the category to welcome up to 120 drivers for the 2012 event.
Each and every year since the TaG Senior class was first offered back in 2004, it’s been one of the most attended categories of the SuperNationals. In 2008, Superkarts! USA opened the class to 100 drivers in its return to the Rio parking lot. Now for 2012, the class has been extended to a record-breaking 120 spots, which will very likely be filled as the waiting list for the category is extensive. With the larger number of entries, the class will be split into three groups for practice and qualifying. Each driver will still have three heat races to contest to qualify for the A Main on SuperSunday, with the entire field being split into six different groups. The top 34 drivers following the heat races will transfer directly into the A Main. Drivers ranked 35th-69th after the heat races will transfer into the B Main, and the remaining drivers will be slotted into a C Main. The top six finishers from the C Main will move into the B Main, where once again the top six drivers will earn a position in the Main Event on SuperSunday. Should any of the ProKart Challenge regional champions or the top three in the SKUSA Pro Tour standings not qualify for the main event, they will have a guaranteed starting position at the tail of the field.
