The California ProKart Challenge is garnering record numbers in their first three events of the 2014 season. The Superkarts! USA regional program welcomed its largest event ever at the historic AdamsMotorsportsPark in its third trip to the Riverside, California facility with 133 racers. The filled paddock welcomed the typical beautiful California weather expected on race day, following a rain-soaked Round Two at Willow Springs. A number of drivers put themselves in a strong position for a run at the championship, with the second half of the season looming, earning another victory to their credit while a select few scored their first win of the year.

The year is rolling right along as the Superkarts! USA California ProKart Challenge already finds itself near the halfway point of its 2014 season, bringing in wildly impressive entry numbers, with high level of quality racing and a higher level of enjoyment for all competitors. Coming up on March 28-29, the California PKC will host its third round of the six-race championship as the series heads to the historic AdamsMotorsportsPark. Located in Riverside, California, the track has been a fixture in California karting for many years. The racing at Adams is sure to be intense following a challenging wet weather race at Willow Springs earlier this month. The championship chases have been shaken up, and the true title contenders will surely stand out after next weekend.

SKUSA Superkarts! USA logoBilly Musgrave is proving that he is one of the best shifter kart pilots in the country right now as he leads the Vemme Kart/Extreme Karting S1 Pro Stock Moto class, and he’s looking to repeat with his second S1 title. Musgrave has a streak of eight podium finishes throughout 2013 and into the opening two rounds of 2014 – including six wins and two runner-up finishes. Former Pro Tour champion Fritz Leesmann was the only driver to beat him in 2013, and Jimmy McNeil was the victor at Round One in Buttonwillow. Musgrave swept the day at Willow Springs and now leads the standings, with Matias Podboj trailing after his runner-up performance that weekend.

Registration Opens for 2014 Superkarts! USA SpringNationals on March 15
Friday, 14 March 2014 11:33

Superkarts! USA is preparing for another record-breaking season as the fifth season of the SKUSA Pro Tour kicks off in the Lone Star State in less than 50 days. The 2014 SKUSA SpringNationals will host the opening two rounds of the season, scheduled for the Dallas Karting Complex in Caddo Mills, roughly 45 minutes from downtown Dallas. Over the past few seasons, driver totals have increased steadily with each offering of the SpringNationals, and 2014 is estimated to be the biggest, as the SKUSA Pro Tour journeys east of the Rocky Mountains for the first time since 2010.

Racers planning to compete in the SpringNationals will be able secure their position in the eight Superkarts! USA categories as online registration opens to the public at midnight on March 14. Each of the eight classes will have a cap of 40 drivers, with classes such as TaG Senior, S2 Semi-Pro and TaG Cadet expected to easily achieve that number as the May 2-4 event draws near and the April 27 pre-registration deadline approaches. Information regarding pit spot reservations and the tentative weekend schedule is to be published on the SpringNats event page starting at midnight tonight, accessible through the SKUSA Pro Tour Event Calendar page.

Wet Weather Hits California ProKart Challenge in Willow Springs
Wednesday, 05 March 2014 14:09

Drivers and teams were tested to the fullest this past weekend at Willow Springs International Raceway, contesting the second round of the California ProKart Challenge. The Rosamond area, along with the rest of California, welcomed some much need rain following months of zero precipitation. The rain, however, was inconsistent, leaving racers and teams scrambling for much of the March 1 event, swapping out MG wet and dry tires and adjusting setups between sessions only to have the track conditions change. Those who braved the elements were awarded the 100 bonus points for competing in the rain, an added benefit to those that support the program through any type of weather. One hundred drivers, along with the dedicated Superkarts! USA staff, kept things in motion until 11 drivers were able to claim victory at the day’s completion and put the first third of the championship chase to rest. Defending title winners Billy Musgrave and Jake Craig shined in the Pro main events, returning to the top step of the podium.
