SKUSA Pro Tour

SpringNats Registration Opens Tonight
Monday, 03 April 2017 08:45

If the first three races of the Superkarts! USA calendar are any indication, the leading karting organization in the country is primed for another banner year. A motivated 190 drivers invaded Buttonwillow Raceway during the first partially-rainy weekend of February to kick off the California ProKart Challenge, and then the Texas PKC fired up their first pure-SKUSA season with a solid opening round the weekend before the inaugural Pro Tour WinterNationals at NOLA. The California PKC crew was back at it this past weekend on the Streets of Willow with almost 170 entries, proving SKUSA’s success with scheduling races during the first weekend of each month. This consistent spacing now puts the focus on May 5-7, when the Pro Tour continues in Sonoma, California with the eighth annual SpringNationals.

SKUSA is returning to the site of the inaugural Pro Tour event that was held at the Simraceway Performance Karting Center in Sonoma in 2010. Held over a mid-April weekend seven years ago, a total of 98 entries took part in this first event, which ushered in a new era for the organization’s championship program. Over the next seven years, the SKUSA Pro Tour has developed into the leading national championship series in North America, with entries for this year’s SpringNationals projected to eclipse the 250-driver mark. Per Tom Kutscher, SKUSA CEO, “Talking to a number of team managers already, I wouldn’t be surprised if we hit 300 entries for this event, with multiple classes selling out at the 40-entry cap right away.”

There was no better way to close out the inaugural WinterNationals then what transpired during the day in New Orleans. Superkarts! USA closed out the second round of the SKUSA Pro Tour on Sunday under cloudy skies, avoid the threat of rain all day. The action on track was hot, with the drivers putting in solid performances from the top level, down to the young Micros. Like the weekend, it was a day of firsts for a handful of drivers to wrap up the event. Read the full story on eKartingNews.com

The first ever Superkarts! USA Pro Tour WinterNationals completed the first round of action for the 2017 season at the NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, LA. A sunny day with strong winds greeted the over 220 drivers taking part in the inaugural event, with nine categories beginning the championship chase for the new season. A revised on-track staff, video marshalling, and new race format set the stage for the first day of competition, leading to some great racing, and some not so great moments for a few drivers. Overall, the racing was better with some exciting finishes in the main events.  Read full story on eKartingNews.com

Moving Up in Age Classes

Recently an issue has been brought to our attention regarding moving up in age classes.  Classes that are usually considered entry level, club or amateur classes are not considered as part of this rule.  We may make a more fomal announcement at a future date.

Live Timing and Results

Live timing and results are only available in our own SKUSA App or it's sister app Race Hero. We are no longer using Race Monitor.  Unlike Race Monitor, the results in the SKUSA App will be updated as penalities are assesed or reversed or otherwise clear tech.  We understand there are currently some features missing from the live timing but we promise they are coming.  Download links to the iOS and Android versions of the SKUSA App  are to the left of this post.

Spark plug clarification

While we allow the use of indexing washers, head temperature sensors or stock spark washers the over all installed length of the plug may not exceed 18.5 mm.

A new era is underway at Superkarts! USA as the company begins the eighth season of their industry-leading SKUSA Pro Tour. Launched in 2010, the championship series has seen significant development and growth since the first laps were turned in Sonoma, California to kick-off the inaugural season. The positive storylines are abundant. Record numbers have continued over the past few seasons, and the introduction of the Evinco tire program has been well received. SKUSA continues to enjoy the solid ladder system in Stock Honda competition, and the excellent relationship with IAME has cemented the future of the SKUSA Pro Tour and the organization. The introduction of the WinterNationals – which are set for March 3-5 at the NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana – will begin a new structure for the SKUSA Pro Tour, and it will also mark the debut of a new Director of Competition position and the introduction of a video marshalling system for 2017.
