There is no question that the anticipation climbs with each passing day for all the Superkarts! USA racers around the country, as the 2014 Pro Tour SummerNationals draws ever closer. The inaugural Save Mart Supermarkets Modesto Grand Prix will play host to this year’s event on August 1-3, making it the first temporary circuit race outside of the annual SuperNationals to play a role in a Pro Tour championship chase. The City of Modesto and Superkarts! USA have been working feverishly over the last few months, making sure that this event feels like no other in the sport of karting, including a vast marketing and publicity effort and a complete repaving of the downtown area street course.
Modesto Grand Prix logo“Of course, I may seem biased, but I honestly think this is the most highly promoted kart race ever,” explained Superkarts! USA CEO Tom Kutscher. “Publicity efforts include a large push into traditional mediums, including major shopping malls, local FM radio stations, community businesses, and numerous print and online publications. It truly is an event on par with any professional car race in terms of how it is being promoted.”

Superkarts! USA has announced a partnership with Lancaster, California’s Streamline Audio Visual to offer a closed-circuit, multi-channel feed for interested teams in the paddock at this year’s SummerNationals. The inaugural Modesto Grand Prix on August 1-3 will host this year’s second stop on the SKUSA Pro Tour, with numbers expected to hit record highs in the Northern California street race. This new deal will allow teams to hear the play-by-play, and watch their drivers cross the finish line – in a LIVE feed straight to their pit.

In just over 30 days, the city of Modesto will welcome Superkarts! USA and the karting community for the second stop of the 2014 SKUSA Pro Tour national series. The inaugural Modesto Grand Prix will play host to the 2014 SummerNationals on August 1-3, taking part in the downtown city streets. The SKUSA SpringNationals was another record-breaking event, held at the Dallas Karting Complex in May. Even greater numbers are expected for the SummerNationals, with the city of Modesto set to provide an atmosphere never seen before at a street race or Pro Tour event.

Superkarts! USA would like to announce the reduction of the minimum weight for those competitors utilizing the IAME X30 engine in TaG Senior and TaG Master. After considerable evaluation, testing, and input from our competitors, it has been decided to adjust the weights to the following:
-
TaG Senior: 370 lbs
-
TaG Master: 400 lbs
As per SKUSA rules, these weights will take effect 30 days from this posting – with July 17, 2014 as the day the new weight structure begins. Superkarts! USA intends to continue monitoring the relative competitiveness and will make additional adjustments as necessary.
SUMMERNATIONALS HOTEL ROOMS GOING FAST
After last Friday’s announcement of the host hotels for the upcoming Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals at the Modesto Grand Prix on August 1-3, the reserved block of rooms at the DoubleTree have already been sold out. Superkarts! USA is urging competitors to call and make their reservations at one of the other two locations as soon as possible: SpringHill Suites by Marriott Modesto and Days Inn by Wyndham Modesto.
