EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 26 – Preview Series – X30 Senior

Twenty years ago was the debut of the TaG Senior category during the seventh edition of the SuperNationals. During that span, 19 drivers have won in the 19 different SuperSunday main events, all with unique and memorable stories – representing eight different countries. While this may be the smallest field for the class at the SuperNationals since 2005, one driver will come out of the event as a SuperNationals winner. Just one of the 63 drivers set to do battle has ever claimed a SuperNationals victory in the category, with four others looking for a second career triumph at the largest karting event in the world.

Defending race winner Evan Giltaire is not returning to defend his crown, leaving the pathway for another driver to claim the hardware on SuperSunday. The one former class winner is five-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic). Norberg claimed his only SuperNationals triumph at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2021 to further etch his name as one of the most decorated karters in USA history. He was among the drivers in contention last year, coming up short and having his position taken away following tech inspection. While this year’s effort to claim a sixth SKUSA title came up short despite five podium finishes, he was able to claim a third straight USPKS championship. The one thing that has stood out, zero victories in 2023. Read full story on eKartingNew.com

Superkarts! USA Announces 2016 Racing Schedules and Class Updates

With the Superkarts! USA competition season now completed after the running of the much-anticipated SuperNationals XIX at the Las Vegas Convention Center in late November, SKUSA’s staff is now totally focused on putting the finishing touches on the upcoming 2016 season. The sport’s leading program is excited to confirm the dates and locations for the 2016 Fikse Wheels Pro Tour, as well as the dates for the various ProKart Challenge series running in California, Texas/Oklahoma and the Pacific Northwest. SKUSA’s overall class structure continues to evolve, as does the entire foundation, coming on the heels of the recently announced introduction of the new Evinco spec tire program.

The 2016 schedule of the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour is a carbon copy of the 2015 program, as SKUSA aims to produce date equity and consistency. The seventh edition of the SpringNationals will take racers back to the Phoenix Kart Racing Association facility as the month turns over from April to May. Announced at the 2015 race, the SummerNationals will also return to the popular New Castle Motorsports Park facility in late July. The 2016 program concludes in Las Vegas once again, as SuperNationals XX returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center for the 20th anniversary of this great event. The following is the official Pro Tour calendar:

The third and final event of the 2022 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour returns to the New Castle Motorsports Park for the 12th edition of the SKUSA SummerNationals. Rounds Five and Six will be contested on the New Castle, Indiana facility to decide the 13th season of SKUSA Pro Tour champions. The event marks the eighth straight year the SKUSA Pro Tour has visited the New Castle Motorsports Park facility, the first coming in 2015. Each event has been over the 220 mark, including this year’s finale with 222 pre-entries set to do battle in eight categories.

Built in 2003, the New Castle Motorsports Park has been the hub of national and international karting during its first season in 2004. The multi-configuration facility has provided SKUSA with different layouts over the eight years, including the National Reverse layout that will be utilized this weekend. It is the same layout selected for the second weekend of the SKUSA Summer Festival in 2020, where three rounds of racing were held that weekend. It measures out to 1-mile with 16 different turns, and the finish line set to the original location when the facility first opened, right in front of the main building and grand stands. A second straight victory for Arias Deukmedjian in X30 Senior (Photo: EKN)

The 2021 Superkarts! USA Winter Series finale weekend is underway with Round Three of the racing action completed on Saturday, February 13 at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires. Half of the winter championship was completed in January with the second half taking part this weekend in Homestead, Florida. For some, it was a chance to secure a position in the championship chase, for others it has been an opportunity to build for the upcoming summer season. Shinning on the day was KartSport North America / Kart Republic driver Arias Deukmedjian continuing on what he did in Round Two with a double victory today.

Deukmedjian’s first victory on the day came in the Haase Karts KA100 Senior division. Qualifying was the only blemish on his scorecard for the day, missing out on fast time by 17 thousandths with point leader Hannah Greenemeier (RPG / Kosmic) setting the quick lap. Deukmedjian took over the lead on lap 2 of the Prefinal and led to the red flag with two laps remaining. The main event was also cut short by five laps, but Arias led the entire distance until the red flag came out for an incident toward the tail end of the field. Deukmedjian was able to get away to a solid lead early as they battle for the second spot behind him. When the full course caution and red flag came out, Round One winner Brandon Lemke (FMS / Merlin) was in the runner-up spot ahead of Nolan Allison (RPG / Kosmic) and Greenemeier. Aiden Levy (Tony Kart) completed the top-five in the final results.

In just one week, the California ProKart Challenge returns to action and hosts the lone double-round weekend of the season. USA regional program. The ‘Sportivo’ layout of 0.656 miles in the clockwise direction will be the selected circuit at one of the most popular venues on the schedule this year. A full day of practice on Friday will be followed by two separate rounds of competition on Saturday and Sunday, taking the championship program into the second half of the season.

Two runner-up finishes have Ethan Lampe at the top of the championship standings in the HRT Driver Development KA100 Senior class. Lampe holds a 200-point advantage over Luis Perez, with Timothy Carel in the third spot. Both races were won by one-round drivers Frankie Mossman and Blake Nash, who are back in 13th and 12th respectively in the standings thus far. Keagan Kaminski has been the most consistent over the opening two rounds in the Nash Motorsportz KA100 Junior class. Kaminski has a third and fourth-place finish in the two events at Buttonwillow and holds a 20-point advantage over recent SKUSA Pro Tour SpringNationals winner Charlie Smith, with Alex Mercado in third.
