This weekend marks the opening of the third season for the continually growing Texas ProKart Challenge – presented by 3G Kart Racing/Burger King®/Chase Racing/Dallas Karting Complex/Fernelius Alvarez Attorneys. Fulfilling the need for a strong regional program in the LoneStarState, series director Dave Pauly established a program combining the United States Rotax Max Challenge and Superkarts! USA categories under one banner. Since 2012, the series has experience expansion with every event and this year’s awards package is scheduled to reach over $30,000 in cash and prizes. The third season for the Texas PKC will start this coming weekend (April 25-27) at the Dallas Karting Complex, located in Caddo Mills, Texas.

Entry lists in all categories are stacked, continues to grow to record numbers as the race weekend approaches. The series was reduced to eight rounds of racing this year, compared to a 10-race program in 2013, making each round crucial to the regional racers looking to secure a series championship. Added to this year’s opening rounds is the addition of many Superkarts! USA Pro Tour competitors from outside the region, as the event serves as a tune-up event for next weekend’s SKUSA SpringNationals.

SKUSA Competition Bulletin: 2014 Pro Tour Priority Pre-Entry Program
Pro Tour SpringNationals competitors to receive priority entry for Modesto Grand Prix SummerNationals
Superkarts! USA is extremely pleased with the tremendous interest in the upcoming SKUSA Pro Tour SpringNationals on May 2-4, 2014 at the Dallas Karting Complex in Caddo Mills, Texas. The entry numbers are expected to max out in several categories, and in keeping with the intent of the Priority Pre-Entry Program for the SuperNationals, SKUSA has elected to offer the SpringNationals participants the first opportunity to enter the Modesto Grand Prix SummerNationals. There is great interest in the northern California street race, but Superkarts! USA believes that it is imperative that those running for the full Pro Tour championship, shown by their participation in Texas, should be given the chance to run the full series through this additional priority entry program.

As such, all SpringNationals participants will be given special access to registration for the SummerNationals for at least a week before it is opened fully to the public. Additional information will be supplied at a later date.

Retraction: Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge US Rotax Max Challenge ‘Punches’
In a press release on March 27, it was announced that drivers competing in the seven United States Rotax Max Challenge categories as part of the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge can earn ‘punches’ toward the US Rotax Grand Nationals. This is the case only at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway events, as part of the CRG-USA Colorado Rotax Series. The May 24-25 and August 30-31 events are included as part of the Grand Junction-based USRMC. The May rounds will count at punches to the 2014 Grand Nationals and the August rounds will count towards 2015. The rounds at the SBR Motorsports Park in Calhan, Colorado on June 21-22 will not count as punches for the USRMC.

SKUSA Claims Engine at Phoenix SpringNationals
Written by John Motley - National Tech Director
At our recent SpringNationals, SKUSA exercised its option to claim a competitor’s engine. We have done so periodically to insure that there are no special or outstanding engines, or any unauthorized modifications that require additional inspection not available at the race. IAME engines used in SKUSA competition are remarkably identical, reflecting the high quality and manufacturing ability of IAME. However, the perception exists of special or significantly better performing engines. To refute this, we intend to exercise our option to claim engines from time to time. Note that the engine claimed met all applicable SKUSA rules and was replaced at the event with a complete new engine package as well as a check for $500, as SKUSA rules provide.
