Superkarts! USA today announced a new partnership with industry leading racewear brand Alpinestars, which will see the renowned name become the ‘official race gear of SKUSA.’ The move underscores a newfound commitment to the sport of karting by Alpinestars, in addition to their existing motorsports programs.
SKUSA shares the excitement of the collaboration, and more importantly the benefits it will offer racers. The partnership will usher in a renewed focus from Alpinestars’ dealers to activate and service every SKUSA ProTour event with on-site support. Participants have been ill served by companies in the past, with no real means to purchase safety equipment at events. Local Alpinestars dealers will be on-hand at each ProTour race with ample Alpinestars product for sale.

After an incredibly successful and historic 25th running of their SuperNationals, Superkarts! USA fired up the 2023 season at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires with the first round of their annual Winter Series. The two-weekend, four-round series kicked off in style with over 240 entries on the books and a perfect day of weather, albeit much cooler than is expected for Florida in January. The opening event on the 12-turn / 0.7-mile circuit was run in the counter-clockwise direction, which is referred to by the best in the paddock as the rougher of the two layouts. Despite all the challenges, Kart Republic factory driver Joe Turney scored a big win in the X30 Senior class, while Alan Isambard (ANSA Motorsports / Formula K) walked to the victory in Pro Shifter.

The second half of 2023 California ProKart Challenge is set to begin over the August 18-20 weekend. Competitors will head to the historic Adams Motorsports Park to contest Rounds Four and Five of this year’s championship program in a three-day, double- round weekend. The Riverside, California facility is one of the country’s oldest karting circuits since opening in 1959, welcoming the Superkarts! USA regional program multiple times during its 19 seasons.
The second half of the championship chase begins in Adams, featuring a number of tight point standings heading into the next two rounds. Chad Dokken Racing's Joe Turney won in X30 Senior on Saturday (Photo: OTP.ca)
The opening day of action at the Superkarts! USA SpringNationals may have featured some aggressive and chaotic racing, but it was also highlighted by a number of incredibly impressive performances at the Utah Motorsports Campus. Tire management played a key role in late-race pace, and the massive draft found on the long frontstraight eliminated any true breakaway victories, so those getting to the top of the podiums needed to do so on merit. Chad Dokken Racing driver Joe Turney (Kart Republic) caught and passed early leader Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic) to earn his second win of the Pro Tour season in X30 Senior, while GFC Karting’s Jacob Gulick delivered a career performance to earn his first national-level SKUSA victory over his teammate Kyle Wick (GFC Karting / GFC) in Pro Shifter.
Speed Concepts Racing X30 Senior saw Turney take his fourth win in Superkarts! USA competition in 2023 in the highly competitive X30 Senior class, including his Winter Series victories. The British driver has been the driver to beat across all series when it comes to single-speed competition, and whether it’s across the pond or here stateside, he’s proven he is always a threat for the win, which he proved to the SKUSA paddock with his win over reigning class champion Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic), who finished in second. Norberg moved to the lead early and looked poised to score the win, but Turney turned things up midway through the race and hunted down the multi-time SKUSA champ, eventually taking the lead. Turney would hold off all of Norberg’s subsequent advances through to the checkered flag. Harley Keeble (Piquet Sport / Sodi Kart) has delivered head-turning opening rounds of the season here in the States, and the Brit backed these up with a third-place finish on Saturday in Utah. Behind the lead trio were Red Army drivers Diego Ramos (PSL Karting / Birel ART) in fourth and defending FIA Karting World Champion Matheus Morgatto (PSL Karting / Birel ART) in fifth, a handful of seconds back from the leaders. J3 Competition’s Oliver Hodgson (Compkart) turned in a masterful drive from last (31st) to cross the line on Morgatto’s bumper in sixth.

X30 Senior pole position - Oliver Hodgson (Photo: EKN)
The path to SuperSunday is complete at the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 26. The run of qualifying and three rounds of heat races outside the Las Vegas Motor Speedway were completed over Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thankfully, the wind has died down when the racing began after chilly winds Thursday during qualifying. The racing around the fast temporary circuit provided great racing, and a lot of drama with the nine categories setting up the grids for the nine main events to be contested on Sunday.
KA100 Senior presented by RLV featured five different drivers to win in the six heat races. Jesus Vasquez Jr. (Nash / EOS) and Rock Island Grand Prix Scholarship winner Chase Jones (MPG / Kart Republic) took the first round as Harley Keeble (Sodi Racing USA) and Ernesto Rivera (RPG / Kosmic) grabbed wins in the second round. Saturday continued the streak of different winners with Race Liberante (MPG / Kart Republic) taking the first heat. Rivera became the only driver to win twice, taking the top spot in the final heat. Matching those with a runner-up finish in the opening heat race lands Rivera on the pole position for SuperSunday. Jones will start alongside on the front row. Donovan Bonilla (RPG / Kosmic) and Chase Hand (GFC Karting) were among the consistent drivers – as Bonilla finished with a best result of second (AvsC) and Hand fifth in AvsD to fill out row two. Oliver Calvo (SCR / Redspeed) and 2019 SuperNationals winner Pauly Massimino (BJR / LN Racing Kart) will start from row three. All the other winners had issues with their other heat races as Vasquez is back in 10th, Liberante 15th, and Keeble 26th. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |
