After a small hiatus for national competition, Superkarts! USA’s flagship regional program, the CaliforniaProKart Challenge, returns to action at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for Round 3 of the 2018 championship on June 1-2. The popular venue also plays host to the Los Angeles Kart Club (LAKC) and is among a favorite of local competitors, thanks in part to its proximity and wide variety of configurations.

While the 2018 championship is only two races in, some early season favorites look poised to make their bid for the regional title. National #2 Billy Musgravecontinues to be the man to beat in the Mad Old Nut / Mad Croc USA Pro S1 category. The MRC factory pilot has not put a wheel wrong since his SuperNationals 21 victory. But Matias Podboj and Brian Keck continue to give chase and will no doubt look to upset the PKC points leader. Musgrave runs well at the paved CalSpeed circuit, so the two will have their work cut out for them.

SKUSA and IAME USA Outline Release for Long Awaited SKUSA ‘SSE’ Spec 175cc Shifter Engine
Wednesday, 23 May 2018 12:08

Superkarts! USA (SKUSA), in conjunction with IAME USA and IAME S.P.A., are excited to announce details of the long awaited release of the SKUSA shifter engine (SSE). The powerplant has been in development for several months with multiple iterations, developments, and improvements along the way. Both IAME and SKUSA couldn’t be more excited for the next evolution of the shifter platform in Superkarts! USA competition.

“It’s no secret, I’m a gearbox guy at heart,” explained SKUSA president Tom Kutscher. “As far back as the days when I drove in SKUSA myself, I’ve always enjoyed the added challenge of shifting gears. That said, finding the appropriate successor to the current engine format was something I took great care to consider and make perfect.”

SKUSA Claims Engine at Phoenix SpringNationals
Written by John Motley - National Tech Director
Friday, 18 May 2018 21:44
At our recent SpringNationals, SKUSA exercised its option to claim a competitor’s engine. We have done so periodically to insure that there are no special or outstanding engines, or any unauthorized modifications that require additional inspection not available at the race. IAME engines used in SKUSA competition are remarkably identical, reflecting the high quality and manufacturing ability of IAME. However, the perception exists of special or significantly better performing engines. To refute this, we intend to exercise our option to claim engines from time to time. Note that the engine claimed met all applicable SKUSA rules and was replaced at the event with a complete new engine package as well as a check for $500, as SKUSA rules provide.

International Kart Federation Announces Early Steps for Future
Friday, 11 May 2018 12:11

The International Kart Federation is the world’s longest standing karting organization, with over sixty years of racing in its history. Having recently joined forces with Superkarts! USA, the new partnership is slowly taking shape to begin the next chapter in the IKF’s long and fabled story.

Superkarts! USA has been working tirelessly with the IKF to close down their previous operations and simultaneously create new local and regional programs that continue to serve by introducing the sport to new drivers. “This all materialized incredibly quickly,” said SKUSA principal Tom Kutscher. “The opportunity for unification came in the midst of our regular SKUSA competition programs, so my staff and I have been working double duty to manage the IKF coming into the fold.”
