SUPERKARTS! USA ADDRESSES LINGERING QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS REGARDING IMPOUNDED ENGINES AND SUBSEQUENT RULING OF FINDINGS
Friday, 24 June 2016 08:00

Superkarts! USA has been compelled to respond to the ongoing questions surrounding the impounded Honda CR125 cylinders and better clarify the findings and subsequent actions resulting from the examination process.

Previous efforts to be discreet have unfortunately backfired, underscoring the need for the series to further elaborate on the events that transpired, based on the clear and present evidence of non-factory modifications.

As the previous press release indicated, four competitors’ cylinders were impounded at a regional ProKart Challenge event to test and rule out the common speculation that there was aftermarket coating present. Per the SKUSA rulebook, using any aftermarket coating like Nikasil® would be a clear violation of the stock format, and thus illegal. This speculation of aftermarket coatings has been a point of concern among many in SKUSA circles and something we felt important to officially repudiate once and for all with a comprehensive series of tests.

Coming to New Castle for the SummerNationals, but still need a hotel room? SKUSA has posted a few recommended hotels/motels in the New Castle and Greenfield areas with rooms currently available HERE. Book today to secure your necessary accommodations, as the Brickyard 500 and WKA events in town the same week mean limited availability and skyrocketing prices! Additional information about on-site camping and pit spot reservations will be posted shortly on this page. A tentative event schedule has been posted HERE.

The 2016 season resumed for the California ProKart Challenge as the program traveled north to the Simraceway Performance Karting Center facility in Sonoma, California for another record-breaking event. The Superkarts! USA flagship regional program welcomed over 180 drivers on the ‘Reverse National’ layout over the two-day event (June 3-4). Racing was a mix of everything, with a few dominating performances, close finishes, repeat winners and new faces on the podium at day’s end.

SKUSA Bulletin: 2016 SummerNationals Registration Opening June 9
Tuesday, 07 June 2016 13:28

The seventh season of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour is set to continue on July 22-24 at the New Castle Motorsports Park. This is the second straight year that the SummerNationals will travel to the New Castle, Indiana facility, following its successful debut with the SKUSA Pro Tour in 2015. Coming off a record number of drivers competing at the 2016 SpringNationals in Phoenix, SKUSA is setting up for another record-breaking weekend for the nine categories at the SummerNationals. Registration for the event is set to open this Thursday, June 9 at 7:00pm PDT (10:00 pm EDT) via the www.skusastore.com online link.

All event details – from the daily schedule to hotel information to how to make pit spot reservations – will be updated on the Pro Tour section of the SKUSA website this week.

Superkarts! USA would like to remind competitors that due to the Brickyard 500 scheduled to take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the same weekend, hotel rooms in the area are in high demand. It is also difficult for SKUSA to set up a block of rooms at a ‘host’ hotel with better rates than those currently available to the general public. A number of options are available in the Greenfield, Indiana area, roughly 20 minutes west of the facility, so it is encouraged for teams and drivers to secure reservations as soon as possible.

Anyone who competed at the 2016 SpringNationals and will be registered by July 10 for the SummerNationals can take part in the SKUSA SuperNationals XX Priority Pre-Entry Program.

For more info on anything related to Superkarts! USA, please check this website and be sure to follow the Superkarts! USA Facebook page and Twitter account – or call the SKUSA head office at 951-491-0808.
