In just over 30 days, the city of Modesto will welcome Superkarts! USA and the karting community for the second stop of the 2014 SKUSA Pro Tour national series. The inaugural Modesto Grand Prix will play host to the 2014 SummerNationals on August 1-3, taking part in the downtown city streets. The SKUSA SpringNationals was another record-breaking event, held at the Dallas Karting Complex in May. Even greater numbers are expected for the SummerNationals, with the city of Modesto set to provide an atmosphere never seen before at a street race or Pro Tour event.

USA President Tom Kutscher. “For months now, we have been holding meetings and conducting site visits to make sure that everything is in place for what we expect to be the largest event for the SKUSA Pro Tour ever – outside of the SuperNationals. The City of Modesto has gone beyond our wildest dreams as a partner to help make this an unbelievable event for karters and for the general public to attend. It’s great for the sport to have a city like this get behind karting. With what we have in the works, including racing under the lights as the sun sets, this event will truly blow you away.”

Superkarts! USA would like to announce the reduction of the minimum weight for those competitors utilizing the IAME X30 engine in TaG Senior and TaG Master. After considerable evaluation, testing, and input from our competitors, it has been decided to adjust the weights to the following:
-
TaG Senior: 370 lbs
-
TaG Master: 400 lbs
As per SKUSA rules, these weights will take effect 30 days from this posting – with July 17, 2014 as the day the new weight structure begins. Superkarts! USA intends to continue monitoring the relative competitiveness and will make additional adjustments as necessary.
SUMMERNATIONALS HOTEL ROOMS GOING FAST
After last Friday’s announcement of the host hotels for the upcoming Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals at the Modesto Grand Prix on August 1-3, the reserved block of rooms at the DoubleTree have already been sold out. Superkarts! USA is urging competitors to call and make their reservations at one of the other two locations as soon as possible: SpringHill Suites by Marriott Modesto and Days Inn by Wyndham Modesto. NOTE: The Priority Pre-Entry Program is well underway. Today is the last day for racers who competed at the 2014 SKUSA SpringNationals in Dallas to reserve their spot to race in Modesto for the Summernats – ahead of the general population of competitors that want to be included in this SURE-TO-BE-SOLD-OUT event! Specifically, this opportunity disappears at 9m PST tonight – Monday, June 9th. Details are posted here, including the link for ‘qualified’ drivers to reserve their spot: Then they will have until midnight on Monday, June 23rd to use their special online link to complete registration with payment.
Online registration opens to the general public for the SummerNationals in Modesto Thursday night, June 26 at the stroke of midnight PST (leading into Friday morning)! A preliminary track map, pricing, and an overview of the event schedule has been posted on the Event Pages.
Host Hotels will open later this week. Watch for it!
