| Superkarts! USA Announces Removal of Pushback Bumper for Three SKUSA Pro Tour Classes |

The 2026 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour is set to begin in one month, traveling to the Musselman Honda Circuit over the weekend of March 27-29 for the 2026 SKUSA WinterNationals. It will be the third trip to the Tucson, Arizona facility, marking the first time returning since it hosted the 2013 SKUSA SpringNationals. Registration opened on February 23 with over 100 pre-registered entries within the first 24 hours. As the organization prepares for the 17th season of the SKUSA Pro Tour, changes in regulations have been updated for the 2026 program. Highlighting the changes for the 2026 SKUSA Pro Tour will be the removal of the pushback bumper system in Pro X30, X30 Junior and KA100 Master divisions. These categories have been selected by Superkarts! USA officials to not utilize the front nose cone mounting system that was implemented in SKUSA competition for all IAME categories in 2018. This will make five total categories competing without the pushback bumper, including Pro and Master Shifter. “This change in removing the pushback bumper from the selected classes was a group effort by our staff,” commented Tom Kutscher of Superkarts! USA. “Our race officials have the capacity to call races without the pushback bumpers and we feel these categories are at the level to hold themselves to a higher standard. Our goal with the removal of the pushback bumper system is to help eliminate the time spent by competitors dealing with a protest for a situation that is deemed not to be a penalty and to help both officials and competitors alike focus on situations that better serves their time.” Superkarts! USA has compiled data at the national and regional levels that show a large percentage of pushback bumper penalties are protested. The data revealed that nearly all of those penalties that were protested are overturned. Throughout the 2025 season at the ProKart Challenge program, pushback bumpers were not required for any classes. “The feedback from competitors and teams through the ProKart Challenge in 2025 was positive toward the removal of the pushback bumper and the confidence they have in our officials in making penalty calls on the race track,” added Kutscher. “This is not something set in stone, as we attempted this move in 2022 at the national level, but for all classes. The removal this time around will test our theory with these limited categories in an effort to wean the competitors away from the pushback bumpers.” As of February 21, 2026, additional changes and updates have been made to the Superkarts! USA rulebook. These can be seen through the SKUSA Rulebook page. Registration is open for Superkarts!
