Superkarts! USA Announces WinterNational Championship Series
Thursday, 23 August 2007 17:00

Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) has announced an entirely new race series to debut in Southern California in 2008. The series, Superkarts! USA WinterNational Championship Series, is a three weekend - six race championship that will span the first quarter of 2008. The six race run is geared as a winter alternative for teams and drivers west of the Mississippi and beyond.

“The WinterNational Championship Series is a result of SKUSA taking stock of many comments we’ve heard from surrounding states in regards to our So Cal ProKart program,” says SKUSA head Tom Kutscher, adding “We saw many out of state drivers participate this year in ProKart Challenge early on in the season, and nearly all requested a short championship run with additional weekend seat time so they could come back and prepare for their regular season run.”

Southern California is already a warm weather winter destination for many, and Superkarts! USA intends to capitalize on that early next year. The organization hopes that many drivers and tuners will come out with their families and enjoy what the region has to offer alongside terrific racing. The WinterNational Championship Series is expected to draw from as far North as Vancouver BC, through the Rockies and into the Midwest and will lure many Northern California and DesertKart Challenge racers hungry for early season action as well.

The three-day format will include a full set of heats and mains on both Saturday and Sunday, along with a practice day on Friday. Classes and race day format will be announced soon, but expect a stock shifter emphasis, along with TaG classes and a pro class. The series intends to pay out a purse in each class dependent on the level of sponsor participation.

2008 Superkarts! USA WinterNational Championship Series

Date Track Location
January 4-6 CalSpeed Karting Fontana, CA
February 1-3 Moran Raceway Beaumont, CA
March 7-9 Moran Raceway (backwards) Beaumont, CA

SKUSA’s ProKart Challenge will start its season at the end of March and will stick with the traditional Friday practice and Saturday race program that has made it the number one choice for kart racing in Southern California. For 2008, the series shortens their championship to a six race battle that will no doubt be more economical for all drivers.

On SuperNationals XI news, G-1 has reached its 40 entry cap last week. S3, S4, and TaG Masters have a few opening left before opening up a wait list. All reserved pit spaces now sold out as well but unreserved spaces are still available. Spots are still available but filling up quickly in the SuperPro and TaG Senior - both will be capped off at 80 entries. The event begins November 14 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.

SuperPros in Other Classes
Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:00

There has been some confusion regarding SuperPros running in other classes at SuperNats XI.  With respect to the SKUSA classes, the rule is that if a driver runs in the SuperPro class, he/she is not eligible to run in other classes.

However, this is not the case with the Rotax Senior and Rotax Master classes where a driver can run in both the SuperPro and Rotax classes.

Reserved Pit Spaces Sold Out

Reserved pit spaces for SuperNats XI are sold out.  But don’t worry, there are plenty of unreserved spaces still available and one of these is included with each entry.  The biggest risk is having your class sold out.  G1 has reached capacity and is closed.  S3, S4, and TaG Master have only a few openings left and TaG Senior is filling up quickly.  The other classes are seeing a lot of activity, but still have some space left.

So don’t wait.  Get your entry in and insure your spot in the biggest and baddest SuperNats ever. Call 951-491-0808 to get on the wait list for G1 and Reserved Pit Spaces.
