Superkarts! USA has learned that the FIA (via the CIK) has advised Scott Speed and Vitantonio Liuzzi not to race in the upcoming Supernationals X in Las Vegas NV, on November 9-12. If they did, they would risk losing their FIA Superlicense, which is necessary to drive in Formula 1. The CIK is the specialized karting commission of the FIA, the governing body of world motor sports. Over the last several weeks Superkarts! USA has worked diligently behind the scenes to try to assure that both drivers would be able to race in the event by securing SuperNationals X a position on the 2006 CIK Calendar. That unfortunately has not happened. Superkarts! USA is looking forward to a terrific tenth running of the Supernationals next week. With the top names in karting participating, it’s going to be a very exciting event in the history of the sport. It’s our understanding that Scott Speed will be attending the event as a spectator and we look forward to Mr. Speed and Mr. Liuzzi racing in the event in 2007. See you all in Las Vegas next week! |
