ROK TT Approved for TaG Classes
Monday, 15 October 2007 17:00

During the year SKUSA has had many requests to include the ROK TT in our program, but we have been reluctant to do so without more testing and real world experience.

KARTSPORT GRAND PRIX and others have included the engine into their races.  We have been watching these results with interest as well as including them on a trial basis in the SKUSA DESERT CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES and one PRO KART CHALLENGE event.  In addition, all the major organizations have measured, dyno tested and approved these engines currently or for 2008.

Since the basis of the TAG program is multiple engines running together, it is inevitable that some engines are better at a given track and others at another track.  While this system has it’s flaws it has been used since the inception of TAG racing.

With the above in mind, we are approving the engine for SKUSA competition effective at SuperNats XI. Note we have based the ROK TT requirements on ones currently in place in other organizations to minimize difficulties to our competitors. SKUSA is approving the ROK TT for competition with the following parameters (click here for homologation PDF):

  • Fitment of a .1mm head shim
  • Timing limited to 20 degrees BTDC
  • 10lb addition over the current Class ‘B’ engine weight requirements
  • Reserve the right to make weight or other adjustment as required in the interest of competitive equity.
