TaG Senior Winner Going to Brazil
Thursday, 26 October 2006 17:00

MG Tires and Superkarts! USA will award a free trip to Brazil to the winner of the TaG Senior class at SuperNationals X.  The winner will compete in the 500 mile Granja Viana race on a team comprised of North American drivers (to be announced).  The winner must be 18 and be able to commit to the trip after the race-otherwise the next eligible driver will be awarded the prize.  The North American team departs November 27, 2006 and will return on December 3 and the winner should have a valid passport to make the trip.

MG Tires will provide airfare, accommodations, kart, parts, mechanics and entry fees as well as a custom fit driver suit.

The Granja 500 is Brazil’s biggest race of the year, and takes place at the 20 turn 7/8 mile Kartodromo Internacional de Granja circuit just outside of Sao Paolo.  The facility was designed and built by the Giaffone family (Felipe Giaffone has driven in the Indy Racing League).

Drivers from Formula 1, IndyCar, Champ Car, Formula 3000, NASCAR and the North American karting world will all match their skills against Brazilian drivers in one of 74 FIA mandated teams powered by Honda GX engines.

Previous entrants in the Granja 500 include F1 drivers Rubens Barrichello (a 4-time winner of the event), Antonio Pizzonia, Felipe Massa (another 4-timer), and David Coulthard. IRL drivers Tony Kanaan, Dan Wheldon as well as Vitor Meira and Felipe Giaffone. Roberto Moreno, brothers Rodrigo and Ricardo Sperafico and nearly all Brazilian series’ champions from karts to F-Renault, F3 and Stock Cars have driven in the event!

This prestigious event is a charity kart race that enjoys national coverage by all of Brazil’s major television stations and has been broadcast with over 10 hours of live action.  The Brazilian print media and other international media outlets plan multi-day coverage of the event as well.
