Superkarts! USA Confirms CIK Approval for SuperNationals XII
Wednesday, 10 September 2008 08:51
With the momentum building for this year’s National Guard SKUSA SuperNationals, the rumor mill is in full swing with regards to the prestigious event. Last year’s race had an unprecedented attendance by the European karting contingent, and Superkarts! USA is proud to confirm this year’s race will be no different. The SKUSA SuperNationals has officially been approved by WKA/ACCUS (The North American sanctioning affiliate of the FIA/CIK) and will allow for any and all drivers of all nationalities to participate in the event. Last year saw reigning world champion Marco Ardigo narrowly trump American driver Gary Carlton – and this year’s event will afford all in attendance the chance at redemption against the best in the world.

This year’s circuit will be nothing short of amazing as well, with renowned karting fixture Rocky Moran Jr. credited with the layout. The 16 turn circuit will encompass the entire Rio Hotel parking lot facility and provide a challenging environment for all competitors. To address the visibility concerns created by the CIK specifications, SKUSA has also officially announced the addition of spectator grandstands in a prime viewing location. “Like I said earlier in the year, people spoke and we listened. Making a track conform to CIK specifications meant last year we had to compromise on visibility,” commented SKUSA’s CEO Tom Kutscher. “This year, one of our main priorities was addressing that – and grandstands will ensure everyone can follow the action as it unfolds.”

The buzz at the Harrah’s owned Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino could not be greater. For a company relatively unfamiliar with karting, the sport is definitely now on the corporation’s radar. To accommodate the massive demand, the few remaining rooms on the property will still be offered at a racer discounted rate. Competitors without accommodations are asked to make reservations immediately, however, as supply is extremely limited.

“This year’s event just keeps getting bigger, and I’m beyond pumped,” commented a jubilant Kutscher. “Everyone remembers the Rio fondly, including myself as a driver. With all respect to the former brass, this year we are extremely committed to taking everything great about years past and adding our spin on it. It’s going to be bad ass.”

As credentialed international drivers confirm their entries, SKUSA will be posting information on their official site for those who are interested.
