The California ProKart Challenge has the two final events of the 2019 season in sight for the month of September. The penultimate round for the Superkarts! USA regional program has teams and competitors heading to the Santa Maria Kart Track on September 7-8. The fifth round of the California PKC championship chase is set for the ‘Nationals Configuration’ of the Santa Maria, California facility.

The win streak for Billy Musgrave in the Croc Promotion USA/Mad Old Nut Pro Shifter category now sits at double digits. His victory at Round Four in Monterey puts his wins to 10 in a row, dating back to the start of the 2018 California PKC season. Texan Jake French has put the pressure on the last three rounds, stealing a quick time in qualifying bonus points back in Round Three to disrupt his perfect score streak on the year. Cody Hodgson is second ahead of French in the standings, holding three podium finishes on the year. Musgrave is also the championship leader in the Rolison Performance Group X30 Senior division. One win and two other podium finishes put him out front in the title chase ahead of Monterey winner and defending champion Joseph Daniele with a number of drivers fighting for third, led by Jacob Gulick.

2019 IKF Sprint GrandNationals Set for Pat’s Acres Racing Complex
Monday, 19 August 2019 11:24

One of the most prestigious trophies in North American karting is the International Kart Federation’s ‘Duffy’. Originally known as the ‘Joe Karter’ award, the 12-inch solid bronze statuette was re-named to honor Frank ‘Duffy’ Livingstone – one of the original pioneers of karting. Each year after 1981, those drivers who were able to claim victory at the esteemed GrandNationals were awarded their own Duffy trophy. The iconic trophy is still a core goal for all members of the IKF, the first kart racing organization and sanctioning body in the United States. Those competing in the sprint karting program will have their next chance to claim a Duffy at the upcoming 2019 IKF Sprint GrandNationals at the Pat’s Acres Racing Complex in Canby, Oregon on September 20-22.

“We are excited to put the focus back into grassroots karting with the IKF,” stated Tom Kutscher, International Kart Federation President. “The IKF is the longest standing organization in our sport, having been created right in our backyard back in 1956. The combination of IKF, the Duffy and racing at the historic Pat’s Acres facility makes the Sprint GrandNationals a unique event for the 2019 season.”

The 10th annual Superkarts! USA SummerNationals are now an exciting chapter in the organization’s history, and the final round of the 2019 Pro Tour was waged on Sunday at New Castle Motorsports Park. The event was treated with almost perfect mid-August Indiana weather and the new track configuration helped to provide the stage for some tremendous racing and, of course, the crowning of SKUSA’s newest national champions. Rolison Performance Group’s Ryan Norberg made history, securing his fourth straight championship in the X30 Senior category, truly an unparalleled accomplishment in the 25-plus years of SKUSA competition. Norberg finished second to Mike Doty Racing’s Brandon Jarsocrak in an wild finish that had to be seen to be believed, but Ryan’s recovery from a lacklustre WinterNationals was the stuff of legend. In the Pro Shifter class, we witnessed the newest chapter in the emergence of Kyle Wick as the top driver in the sport, as the CRG Nordam pilot completed a strong and consistent season to secure the national championship and the national #1 plate for 2020. The Croc Promotion USA duo of Jake French and Billy Musgrave dominated the weekend with a pair of 1-2 finishes, with French re-establishing himself as a true shifterkart star, but it was Wick’s run of six consistent finishes that earned him a well-deserved title. The opening day of the Superkarts! USA SummerNationals at New Castle Motorsports Park checked all the available boxes for a Pro Tour finale. Perfect weather, no red flags, thrilling wheel-to-wheel racing and a taco truck fiesta for the entire paddock at day’s end.

Check, check, check and check.

You couldn’t ask for much more from a mid-August summer day in Indiana. Nice race groups housing 12 categories took to the track at the popular New Castle Motorsports Park, running the extended ‘SKUSA Super Mile’ layout that leveraged the facility’s full configuration that includes the ‘oval turn’ and the ‘ski jump’. Three-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion Ryan Norberg took a major step towards securing an unprecedented fourth-straight X30 Senior title, as the Rolison Performance Group leader drive took an impressive win over Croc Promotion USA / Musgrave Racing Company’s Billy Musgrave. The Croc Promotion camp laid the smackdown in Pro Shifter 1, led to the win by Texan Jake French, who dominated the action. Musgrave was second to his teammate in the IAME SSE 175cc category, ending the day with a historic performances in SKUSA’s Pro classes. All in all, the on-track action was tremendous with overtaking highlighting several different sections of the track. Read full story on eKartingNews.com
