SKUSA ProTour New Castle, Indiana COVID-19 Protocol, and Guidelines
Sunday, 02 August 2020 07:01
To SKUSA racers, supporters and staff, we are all very excited to be able to host and participate in the 2020 SuperkartsUSA ProTour Event in New Castle, Indiana. First and foremost, we would like to thank you for attending our event during these unprecedented times. As of July 27th, Indiana Governor, Eric Holcomb, announced a face covering mandate for the state of Indiana. Our number one priority during these challenging times is to ensure the safety of our participants, staff, customers, and teams. To keep everyone safe during our event, face coverings or masks will be mandated when out of your personal pit space. These mandates are to comply with the Indiana state mandate, CDC, OSHA, and federal recommendations.

We will not be monitoring masks within your own personal tents. However, they are strongly recommended. We will have SKUSA officials around the premises to implement this protocol and keep our racing community safe during our event. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support during this time and are so happy to be able to hold this event and continue with our racing season.

Overall, SKUSA will be:
  • Requiring that face coverings or masks be worn in the following areas: when leaving your pit space, registration, tech, scales, grid, and where social distancing is more difficult.
  • Providing a virtual drivers meeting to reduce a large public gathering (link will be sent via SKUSA App and social media)
  • Implementing social distancing (of 6 ft or more) in common areas (with signs and ground stickers posted as friendly reminders)
  • Roping off individual sections of the grandstand to ensure social distancing
  • Providing a direct line of communication between team principles and race directors
  • Prohibiting any close parties or gathering of 10 or more in tents, RVs, etc.
  • Mandating all SKUSA employees to wear their masks throughout the event
  • Installing plexiglass barriers in many departments between staff and customers
  • Providing hand sanitizer, paper towels, and cleaning supplies in every department
  • Providing SKUSA masks or disposable masks for any attendee that needs or would like one
  • ALL entries will be made aware of these guidelines thru electronic notice and/or upon receiving their registration package
In the Registration Building:
  • Masks will be required
  • We will be sanitizing all equipment, iPads, and pens in between customers when checking in and periodically throughout the day
  • We will call families in for registration one at a time to reduce the number of people in the building
  • Grab & Go driver packet will be available (with everything in it including a free mask and driver wristband)
  • We will not be putting the wristband physically on you; please put it on yourself
  • We will have everyone insert/remove their credit cards out of our machines, and we will not pass cards back and forth
  • Everyone will be mandated to fill out a COVID questionnaire and waiver at check-in
In SKUSA Race Departments:
  • Masks will be required in the following areas:
    • Tech
    • Scales
    • Grid
    • Race Control
    • Penalty box
    • Tires
  • Masks will be required when speaking with any SKUSA official
  • Only one mechanic or parent is allowed per driver in scales, tech, and grid
  • The grid will remain a no spectator area
  • We will not allow large groups to form around these areas
  • We will have tape/stickers on the ground in high traffic areas to ensure appropriate space between participants
  • Drivers don't need to wear masks on the grid or in the scales but will need to keep their helmet or head sock on until they are back in their team tent
Pit assignments:
  • Each pit assignment has been assigned and adheres to the following guidelines:
    • One race entry per designated 280sq/ft to position and maintain their kart, mechanic, and tools required to race
    • Ensure a 7-feet separation for each entry and work involved with the car
    • Each team wearing the same representing team shirt is considered as "part of their immediate race family" and assumes this responsibility as such
Restroom accommodations:
  • We have 26 total restrooms around the property( individual & full restroom facilities with running water and proper wash stations)
  • We have 2-ADA facilities for the entire event
  • Restrooms and wash stations will be arranged following social distancing guidelines
We want to continue to have these races while staying safe and healthy. We look forward to the days when these measures are no longer needed, but until then, we must respect the safety and well being of others. We at SKUSA have worked extremely hard to make this race possible, and we thank you for your ongoing understanding, business, and support during these times.

Thank you,
Superkarts USA
