Reed Cage System Clarification - KA100 and X30
Written by Lynn Haddock - National Tech Director
Monday, 17 March 2025 08:30
Any alteration to the factory intended operation of the reed cage system may be deemed non-compliant. The original statement of the reed screws being a non-tech item was intended to mean the type (straight, Phillips, Allen or Torx, etc) of screw, not to mean an alteration to the size or design could be made. Further, the sizing of the holes in the reed petal hold down plate may be compared to a known stock part to determine legality.

The first event of the 2025 ProKart Challenge program was held on the February 28-March 2 weekend at the new K1 Circuit. The Winchester, California facility welcomed the Superkarts! USA regional program for a third time since opening its doors in August 2024. Rounds One and Two of the 2025 championship program kicked off with perfect racing weather to begin the 21st season for the series.

The sold out Formula Works KA100 Senior class welcomed 52 drivers around the 1-mile circuit. They were led by veterans Jake Drew and Oliver Calvo in the opening qualifying session on Saturday, with the two separated by only 30 thousandths. It was Drew’s 1:02.994 lap that was best in the session. Drew and Calvo were shuffled back at the start of the Prefinal, allowing Jackson Menchu to show the way. He would get overtaken by former SuperNationals winner Zachary Claman Demelo and Shea Aldrich to finish 1-2 at the end of the Prefinal and lead the field to the green flag for the Final. The two exchanged the top spot several times over the first half of the race until 2024 series champion Keagan Kaminski worked his way up into the battle. He grabbed the lead on lap 10. Kaminski continued leading over Claman Demelo and Calvo until the two challengers were involved in an incident. Claman Demelo retired while Calvo fell outside the top 10. Senior rookie Johnie Stamps became the new challenger for Kaminski as they fought to the checkered flag. At the line, it was Kaminski taking the victory ahead of Stamps and Menchu. Josh Campbell was fourth with Theo Kekati in fifth.

Further, carbon in the top of the ports that could obstruct the use of the 0.2mm X 5mm stop guage used to document the exhaust duration as noted in the fiche documents may also be grounds for disqualification. Please ensure your equipment is cleaned and compliant.

2025 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour on the Horizon
Wednesday, 19 February 2025 14:47

Fresh off a record setting campaign in Florida, the Superkarts! USA organization is turning its focus on the 2025 SKUSA Pro Tour. Set for its 16th straight season, the championship will again be comprised of three events to crown this year’s title winners. The highest entry numbers ever at the 2025 SKUSA Winter Series could forecast a big year for the SKUSA Pro Tour.

The class structure for the 2025 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour remains unchanged, including the two Pro classes of Pro Shifter and Pro X30. The change from last year will be the return of Pro X30 to contest two rounds of racing each weekend alongside the Semi-Pro classes. Drivers competing in Pro X30 will also be allowed to compete in the KA100 Senior class, as there are no longer any restrictions placed on Senior drivers competing in both divisions on the same weekend. Pro Shifter will continue with one round per weekend, including qualifying, two heats on Saturday, and now with a Prefinal and Final on Sunday.

The largest prize package ever for the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour was introduced in 2024 and will continue for the upcoming 2025 season, reaching a total of $310,000. The Pro Shifter podium on Sunday each weekend totals $8,500 – with $5,000 to the winner. The top three in Pro X30 for all six main events in 2025 will be racing for $4,250 in total, with the winner earning $2,500 for each victory. The overall total for the 2025 weekend payout for the Pro categories is $51,000.
