INTRODUCING: Fikse Wheels Decal Kit Sponsorship Program
Tuesday, 09 June 2015 19:15

Fikse Wheels is a company steeped in motorsports history, and fueled by a passion for excellence, quality and competition. As a manufacturer of custom racecar and sports car wheels, Fikse produces high-quality products for customers who love their cars and want the best components for their machines. At the genesis of the new year in karting, Fikse elected to turn some of its marketing focus onto the karting community to introduce the brand to the thousands of racing and automobile enthusiasts who fill the karting ranks. This marketing campaign was designed to support and grow the sport as well, through Fikse’s sponsorship of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour, which is now known as the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour. Fikse’s support of the SKUSA national program can also be seen in the series’ exciting prime time coverage on the CBS Sports Network, which is taking karting to television at a level that we’ve never seen before.

SKUSA Pro Tour SpringNats 2015 logoThe capper of the Superkarts! USA SpringNationals doubleheader in Phoenix featured heightened intensity and a long list of the best drivers in the country. The second round of the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour offered the paddock a chance at either redemption, or a continuation of success, depending on each driver’s Saturday results. The mercury eased up a little, thankfully, offering temps in the low-90s, but the pressure was on for those who may not have excelled in the opening day of competition. Five drivers maintained their dominance, include Rick Dreezen (S1), Carter Williams (S2), Darren Elliott (S5), Callum Smith (S5) and Nick Tucker (TaG Master), while others broke through for their first wins on the circuit. Oliver Askew was the benefactor of a controversial call in TaG Senior, Brandon Lemke asserted his position as one of the top Junior drivers in the country, and Jason Welage found his top-three result elevated to P1 status following post-race penalties. The big winner on the day was the sport, as the competition was incredible, the racing exciting, and all of it was captured for prime time coverage on CBS Sports Network in late-May.

For the 190+ drivers in the Phoenix Kart Racing Association paddock, success in the opening round of the Superkarts! USA Fikse Wheels Pro Tour would require the mastery of many factors, including the high heat, the massive grip and the deep competition that dominated the day. Each pilot on the SKUSA SpringNationals grid was challenged to step up his or her game. Overtaking on the Phoenix layout is tough on a good day, but the conditions this weekend upped the ante. Chassis set-up would be key, engine tuning would be increasingly important and driver stamina was put to the test. The day’s action featured seven different chassis brands score victory in the eight categories, highlighted by dominant performances from guys like Darren Elliott, Callum Smith, Jak Crawford, David Malukas and Rick Dreezen, breakthrough victories from Louie Pagano and Nick Tucker, and a victory decided via an on-track call that promoted Carter Williams to the win after he hounded Marco Eakins for 16 straight laps. The national championship season is now underway, and the primary title contenders have been identified.
