SuperNationals Classes Full, Filling and Wait Listing
Wednesday, 03 August 2011 09:06
You couldn’t ask for much more when it comes to the excitement that is building for the 15th edition of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals. Despite the fact that the race is still over three months away, three classes have already hit their current maximum entry of 40 drivers and more are closing in on this pre-determined target each day. Only a limited number of classes can be extended to more than one race group, due to time constraints in the weekend schedule, and those opportunities are being used up quickly. It is certainly encouraging for the future of SKUSA that it is the youngest drivers who are filling the current rosters, as both TaG Cadet and TaG Junior have both maxed out, each also building up their waiting lists, which signals the potential of expanding the grid to 80 competitors in each class. TaG Master has also topped the 40-mark for Vegas, continuing the momentum that SKUSA has created with the class on the Pro Tour, which enjoyed greatly increased fields at both the SpringNationals and the SummerNationals in 2011.

“We’re extremely excited by the influx of entries that we’ve been processing over the past month, and it’s certainly an interesting indication of where we are seeing growth in both our SuperNationals program and SKUSA as a whole,” comments Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA CEO. “We’re thrilled in knowing that TaG Cadet will very likely hit the 80-driver mark, and the full grid of TaG Juniors will be great as well. The fact that we’ve already sold out TaG Master is also a huge deal for us. I can’t wait to see how the Master field lines up for next year’s Pro Tour as well, as I hope we’ll be getting everyone out to play in 2012. We’re having a great time with the class this year!”

The race, which is held each fall at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, is scheduled for November 16-20, and a massive field of over 500 drivers is expected. We’re not talking about 500 ‘entries’ spread out over 150 or so individual competitors running multiple classes, but 500 actual racers looking for the top step of the podium come SuperSunday. The SuperNationals has become the largest karting event in North America and will grow even larger for this special 15th anniversary edition.

The other class that is currently closing in on hitting the initial entry limit is TaG Senior. TaG Senior has enjoyed a full double-group entry list of 80 drivers for the past five years, and has already climbed to over 60 entries thus far. It is expected to cap out at 80 before the middle of August. There is discussion of opening the class to 120 entries, but that is doubtful at this time, thanks to the growth of the TaG Cadet class, which has taken hold of one of the few double race group options on the schedule.

“The growth of TaG Cadet has certainly required a different approach for us during this year’s SuperNats planning time, as we know that we only have a set number of race groups that we can run each day,” Kutscher continued. “The TaG Senior numbers have topped 80 for the past couple of years and our waiting list grew to over 15 in 2009 and 2010, but it was never enough for us to add that third group. I think it would be way cool to see that, but we’d need to hit the pre-entry mark of 80 this month to make it feasible, as we only have room for three expanded groups. TaG Senior has one already, and with TaG Cadet now expected to need one very soon, it’s simply going to come down to which class hits the cap first and which builds its necessary waiting list. We won’t open a class until the waiting list tops 30 drivers, because we obviously need to hit the 80-mark, considering that it will be eliminating the chance for another class to expand.”

Anyone wishing to have their names added to a waiting list should send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to secure a position, should any of the classes open up to an additional race group.

As the paddock fills up with entries, so does the host hotel. The Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino is one of the keys to the SuperNationals experience, and SKUSA has again put together a great room rate at the venue. The SKUSA room block is just over two-thirds booked at this time, and racers must be alerted that the hotel is already sold out for the SuperNationals weekend due to another major event that is taking place at the facility. As such, once the SKUSA room block is totally sold out, there will be no more rooms available for the SuperNationals participants. If you have not yet booked your rooms for the event, it would be advisable to do so immediately. Event attendees may book their reservations online at the following link, or they can call in toll free at 1- 866-746-7671 and refer to group code ‘SRSNA11’. SKUSA will be releasing regular updates on the SuperNationals entries on both http://www.superkartsusa.com and ekartingnews.com to keep their racers informed, so please stay tuned to see which classes will be opened as the pre-entry deadline nears.
