Over $100,000 in Prizes Set for Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XVII
Friday, 25 October 2013 23:27
In just over three weeks time, the sun will rise over the Las Vegas Strip to the smell of VP racing fuel and Motul oil, and the sound of almost 600 karts hitting a temporary circuit built on the grounds of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. This exciting attack on the senses will mark the beginning of the 17th annual Superkarts! USA SuperNationals. The event is expected to be the largest karting event in the world this year, with up to 600 drivers travelling into Nevada to compete during the week of November 20-24, including the best from all over North America as well as a number of international karting stars and professional drivers from all forms of motorsports.

SKUSA SuperNationals XVII logoSuperkarts! USA’s collaboration with its many sponsors and supporters has helped to build a prize package of over $100,000 for this year’s SuperNationals, which will all be handed out following the action on SuperSunday. Part of that total is an astonishing $57,000 in cash, with $45,000 up for grabs to the top-five drivers in the three headline categories – TaG Senior, S1 Pro Stock Moto and KZ2. Welcoming the best international drivers, the KZ2 class will once again reward its winner with $10,000 for the victory at the SuperNationals, while another $5,000 will be handed out to the remaining pilots on the podium. S1 and TaG Senior will each race for an $8,000 cash purse, with the winner taking home a minimum of $3,000. Should the winner in either category be a SKUSA Pro Tour racer who competed at both the SpringNationals and SummerNationals, that driver is scheduled to earn another $7,000 bonus, making it a cool $10k to win the biggest event of the year. The champions in both S1 and TaG Senior will also take home part of the $12,000 SKUSA Pro Tour championship purse, with each title winner scoring $3,000, the vice-champion $2,000 and third place in points a $1,000 check.

The events that will unfold in ‘SinCity’ will decide the champions on the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour, as the race serves as the 2013 season finale. Eight championships are on the line, along with the chance to carry the prestigious SKUSA national number plates in 2014 for the top-three finishers in the point standings. The driver in each championship who claims the top spot will be included in the exclusive ‘SKUSA Circle of Champions’ program for 2014, which will award them free entry, tires and fuel for the entire SKUSA Pro Tour season. In total, the 2014 SKUSA Circle of Champions program rewards roughly $24,000 back to the racers.

Support from Honda Performance Development/HPD and Bernard Richard Manufacture (BRM) once again add to the growing prize package for the SuperNationals. HPD is set to hand out $8,800 in cash and prizes this year in Las Vegas. The top three drivers in the SKUSA Pro Tour standings contesting the four Stock Moto categories – S1, S2, S4, and S5 – will earn a piece of the cash purse. A $750 check goes to the champion, $500 for vice-champion, and $350 for third, but drivers must follow the HPD contingency program. The S4 Master Stock Moto winner at the SuperNationals will receive a complete Honda CR125 Engine Kit, valued at $2,400. A one-off timepiece provided by BRM will be presented to the winners of S1 and TaG Senior this year, each valued at $3,000. Capping off the prizes for the Pro Tour categories, the TaG Cadet champion will once again earn a ticket to compete at the Rok Cup International Final in Italy. The 2013 title winner will be provided an entry into the 2014 event in South Garda, thanks to the support from engine manufacturer Vortex.

The addition of Rotax Max Challenge categories DD2 and Rotax Junior have brought in another stellar group of drivers from around the world, along with adding to the amazing prize package available at the SuperNationals. The winners in the Rotax Junior, DD2 and DD2 Masters categories will earn the first tickets to the 2014 Rotax Grand Finals – the ‘Olympics of Karting’. All DD2 drivers will run together on track, but will be scored separately on SuperSunday to decide the two Rotax Grand Finals tickets in that division. The 2013 edition of the Rotax world championship program is being held for the first time on United States soil this November 10-16 at NOLAMotorsportsPark in New Orleans, LA. Many drivers, mechanics and families will make the quick turn around to compete at the SuperNationals the following week, some in the Rotax divisions and others moving into their respective Superkarts! USA classes.

Announced at the beginning of the month, the S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto category has opened up from 40 drivers to 80 competitors, expanding the field of the growing category. Throughout the SKUSA Pro Tour, the S2 division has been among the largest, and was one of the first to sell out when registration opened August 1. With a long wait list, SKUSA officials felt it was pertinent to add another race group to the program to welcome the continued growth of the Stock Moto ladder system.

SKUSA’s room block at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino is now officially sold out. However, the block has been extended to include a few more rooms, which may be reserved at the following LINK to avoid additional resort fees. Superkarts! USA has also arranged a special ground transportation service between the Las Vegas airport and the Rio. LAS Xpress is offering a fast and affordable shuttle service for $11 one-way. Head to the following LINK in order to reserve a one-way or round-trip transportation service for SuperNationals XVII. Information regarding pit spots and tent reservations has been updated at the following LINK. If you have not already submitted a pit spot reservation, Superkarts! The cutoff for SKUSA SuperNationals XVII entry is Friday, November 1 at midnight. After that, the SKUSA Online Store will be closed for all entries and purchases. The at-track entry fee, assuming there is space in the desired class, will be a flat $700 (not including tires or fuel). As of now, entry spots still remain in KZ2, S1, S2, S4, S5, TaG Junior and Rotax Junior. All other classes are sold out, with wait lists still being managed due to last-minute cancellations. SKUSA recommends the pre-purchase of practice tires – either online before the November 1 midnight cutoff, or pre-ordered via email for teams by Sunday, November 10. Fuel and oil for the event will be sold at the track only, no pre-orders are necessary.
