Rotax competition is nothing new for the SKUSA SuperNationals. The first addition of Rotax came in 2001 at the old Las Vegas Karting Center when Andrew Alfonso won the inaugural main event for class. The runner-up that year featured Chris Carmody – on a PTK chassis – coming back to win in 2002 at the first event at the Rio. Rotax was absent from the SuperNationals until it returned with Senior and Masters divisions. Senior was won by Canadian Pier-Luc Ouellette on an Arrow chassis. The last time Rotax was part of the SuperNationals was in 2013 with DD2, DD2 Masters and Rotax Junior.
SuperNationals 29 marks the fourth time that the Rotax Senior division will be offered. While other Rotaxians from around globe will be competing in Portugal at the RMC Grand Finals on the same weekend, there will be 41 drivers vying to be part of the history books at the SuperNationals. The big positive of hosting the new category is the 21 drivers who will be making their first ever SuperNationals start, thanks to the Rotax Senior category. Read full story on eKartingNews.com.
