The Superkarts! USA Winter Series kicked off the 2024 racing season on Saturday at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires with over 291 entries taking to the 0.7-mile, 12-turn in warm and windy conditions. With the mercury rising to the mid-80s in the high heat of the day and light showers making things interesting in between a few main events, Rolison Performance Group came away with a sweep of the headline Pro classes thanks to veteran performances by superstars Ryan Norberg and Danny Formal.
Heated early race action in the SpeedLab Racing Engines X30 Senior main event opened things up for a three-driver breakaway as top qualifier Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic) led Austin Garrison (Speed Concepts Racing / Redspeed) and Alessandro de Tullio (Inter MS / Kart Republic) through the first half of the race. With Norberg beginning to stretch away from the duo as the race closed on the halfway point, de Tullio realized the situation and moved by Garrison in turn four to take up the chase. While he was able to build a little cushion on Garrison, de Tullio was just not able to reel in the five-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion. Norberg would cruise to a 1.164-second win. The fastest driver at the halfway point was top qualifier Jakob Kolar (Vice Racing / Kart Republic), who passed Canadian Thomas Nepveu (Trinity Karting Group / Kart Republic) for fourth as he put his head down to push for a podium finish.

We will be debuting the new MG SW2 rain tire this weekend. The new tire has more grip and is a considerable amount faster on a full wet track. We will be allowing ONE SET of the new tires to be purchased for each driver/race entry for the weekend. Should we run into conditions on Saturday where we have excessive wear, we will have available and may allow a second set of the new SW2 tires to be utilized for the remainder of the weekend.
The prior model rain tire, the MG SW, will still be allowed for competition this weekend.
Tire sales for the new rain tires will begin at 9am Friday morning at the Vantage/KartSport trailer and will continue until 6pm. These tires will be purchased at retail pricing by the individual driver/entrant and there will be no tire sales to the teams. We will be tracking the one set allowance as they are purchased. You MUST have your “hand print” designed wristband that was included in your SKUSA entry packet to pick up your tires.
You can use the new SW2 set at your discretion, but this will be the only set allowed unless that we declare that everyone can use a second set.
We urge you not to wait until Saturday or Sunday at the last minute as you could risk not getting your tires in time. SO PICK UP YOUR TIRES ON FRIDAY FROM 9AM - 6PM. |

The 2024 season is set to begin as the Superkarts! USA Winter Series is set to open its seventh season this weekend. The first stop of the 2024 EKN Trackside tour is the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires facility in Homestead, Florida over January 12-14.
The 7/10-mile circuit will be utilized in the counter-clockwise direction for the opening weekend for the 2024 SKUSA Winter Series. Wednesday and Thursday are unofficial practice with Friday hosting five official sessions for testing. Round 1 is set for Saturday, including qualifying, Prefinal and Final. Round 2 is a repeat format on Sunday.
Two weekends in the state of Florida over the next five weeks provides us with a ‘Spring Training’ for the upcoming season, as the SKUSA Winter Series is the opportunity for select drivers either graduating up a division or finding a new home to work out the kinks and get ready for the busy summer schedule. Fresh off the momentum of the 2023 SuperNationals, SKUSA is pleased to reveal a deeper collaboration globally with IAME Italy (S.p.A.S.U.) for the 2024 season. Beginning in January, the SKUSA Winter Series and subsequent ProTour events will also be recognized worldwide as the IAME Series USA West. The naming convention is part of a bigger push by IAME Italy to unify racing series across different countries and spotlight talent from multiple continents.
"It's a great thing to help bring everyone under one banner,” explained SKUSA’s principal Tom Kutscher. “The competition in the United States has become one of the best in the world, and we’re always keen on having our most talented drivers recognized in the same discussions as other greats in the sport.”

The final round of the Superkarts! USA Winter Series offered up a day full of ultra-competitive racing and the championship battles, as everyone headed into the main events at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex with different goals. The weather has cooled off a little from Saturday, but while the rain clouds loomed late in the day, it was dry racing from start to finish. Taking ‘Championship Sunday’ quite seriously, British talent Joe Turney scored the main event win in X30 Senior to clinch the title, as did AJ Myers in Pro Shifter. Collin Lloyd emerged with the victory in KA100 Senior and while it did not translate into a Winter Series title, it was his second win of the year and certainly put his name in the national spotlight.
Factory Kart Republic driver Joe Turney (Chad Dokken Racing / DAP) delivered a virtually flawless performance in the Speed Concepts X30 Senior category, beginning the day by topping qualifying over Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic). Turney led from the green in the Prefinal, but both Norberg and Saturday winner Austin Garrison (Speed Concepts Racing / Redspeed) also took turns up front before Turney eventually went back to the lead to lock down the pole for the 22-lap main event. Heading into the final, with his pole position and Prefinal points in hand, Turney was in the driver’s seat for the championship, as Norberg and Garrison needed to win to force his hand.
