 PKC sweetheart Kyle Zirkle was injured Saturday at CalSpeed when a kart went off the track and struck him, knocking him to the ground. He suffered a concussion, skull fracture and broken left leg. Surgeons installed a rod and pins in his leg on Sunday, and Kyle's other injuries are healing on their own. He was able to return home Monday evening, to welcoming family and a few buddies. "Kyle's a great guy, and we are saddened by this accident. We will do anything we can to get him back on his feet and racing again!" said Tom Kutscher.
In fact, PKC has seen an overwhelming outpouring of well wishes and offers to make donations to Kyle's 2009 racing fund. He will be on crutches for 6-8 weeks, and is devastated by the setback to his summer work and racing plans. Round #4 of the 6-race ProKart Challenge So Cal kart racing series will be held at the CalSpeed Kart Track at the AutoClub Speedway in Fontana on Saturday, June 28th. An open practice day will be held on Friday, June 27th from 9am to 5pm, with a complimentary dinner hosted by PKC afterwards. Complete details are available at www.prokartchallenge.com, including an online store where you can pre-enter the event as well as purchase your SKUSA membership, spec tires, spec fuel/oil, transponder rentals, reserved pit spots, etc. The track configuration for this event is the Nuovo course clockwise.
Event Entry: Pre-entry cutoff for this event is midnight this coming Wednesday, June 25th. Enter before the cutoff and save $26 on your entry fees -- PLUS save yourself from standing in long registration lines at the track! Enter the event and purchase the other race products that you will need through the ONLINE store or call 951-491-0808. You can also download, fill out and fax your entry/order to 951-491-0809 -- especially if you prefer to PAY at the track. Click here for that form.
