California ProKart Challenge

Top Five Reasons You Should Be Racing The 15th Annual Prokart Challenge Championship
Wednesday, 20 March 2019 10:38

With the 2019 California ProKart Challenge nearing its opening weekend, the Superkarts! USA staff is getting excited for its 15th year of consecutive competition. After a stellar prize package confirmation totaling well over six figures ($120,000 USD), the California based operation is poised to begin its most generous and exciting season of kart racing ever.

With favorable climate and no shortage of places to race in Southern California, SKUSA recognizes karters have choices when deciding where to compete. We’ve put together a comprehensive list of the top 5 reasons you should be racing in the 15th annual SKUSA California ProKart Challenge.
  1. Podium Prizes – One of the biggest bits of feedback SKUSA have received in the off season is the distribution of race and series prizes. The top 3 drivers in any race class over five competitors will receive credit towards their next race. The winner will not only receive a free entry to the next event, but their Evinco race tires included as part of the package.

Bottom line: It’s entirely possible that fast drivers may race an entire season of ProKart Challenge for nothing more than the cost of the first race entry, or a few sets of tires thereafter throughout the season.

  2. Free Raffle Prizes – We get it, not every driver will get on the podium. ProKart Challenge will be raffling off prizes to racers who simply stick around for the awards ceremony. You simply need be present to win. Prizes include 10 sets of Evinco race tires, 4 free PKC entries, including tires, and even a full SKUSA ProTour entry with Evinco race tires valued at over $1,000.

Bottom line: Even if you have the worst day at the race track, you can still go home net positive with a free entry to the following round(s).

  3. Competition and Control – Not all karting series are equal. ProKart Challenge is officiated and governed by the same core team that adjudicates the prestigious SKUSA ProTour. Races run on schedule, in the safest and most fair manner possible. We also use an ironclad rule book with an engine claiming policy that is the gold standard in North America. The ProKart Challenge is home to some of the fastest racers in the country who win with talent — not money. If you can win here, you can win anywhere.

Bottom line: All of the prizes in the world mean little if the racing is subpar. ProKart Challenge is the most competitive and well-run regional program in the country. For good reason.

  4. Promotion and Publicity – SKUSA’s regional events continue to set the bar high in terms of promotion, publicity, and prestige. We have professional photographers who not only document and shoot the events, but make photos available for a nominal fee. Our racers are also covered by the sport’s leading media outlets, including eKartingNews.com

Bottom line: If a tree falls in the woods… What good is a win at a race series nobody knows of? SKUSA and ProKart Challenge invest a significant amount of money to ensure our racers receive the publicity and notoriety they deserve. Many of our former racers have gone on to forge amazing careers in motorsport and cite wins and championships at ProKart Challenge as significant factors.

  5. Scheduling and School – You spoke, we listened. We get that one of the biggest concerns for parents is education. As more and more families take their racing across the country for various national programs, missing school becomes an issue. We’ve modified the 2019 ProKart Challenge format to be a Saturday / Sunday structure ensuring no missed school days. With qualifying on Saturday as the final session, racers and families will be on the road home Sunday afternoon at a reasonable time after a full day of racing.

We have also modified the schedule to be a 5 event race weekend season, with a double race weekend at Fontana. With more and more races filling the calendar, we still believe in quality over quantity.

Bottom line: We value education as much as anyone. Finding a format that pleases everyone is impossible. But — we’re confident a Saturday / Sunday structure will ensure less missed days of school for our younger racers.

The 2019 championship kicks off March 30-31 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Pre-entry is open and the first round of the yearly championship is always an exciting one. Be sure to register for the Buttonwillow race before the pre-entry cut off to avoid walk-up fees and long lines.
