Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge Sets 2025 Schedule |
Friday, 24 January 2025 17:48 |
The 21st edition of the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge is projected to be one of the best seasons in the last decade. The organization’s flagship regional program is set to contest six rounds of racing over the course of five weekends, featuring three premier facilities in the southwest region of the United States. The 2025 Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge is set to begin on February 28-March 2 at the new K1 Circuit. The Winchester, California facility opened its doors to SKUSA competition for the first time at the end of 2024, welcoming huge numbers over the two weekends of racing. The opening event of the new season will feature a double-round format, with Round One being contested on Saturday and Round Two on Sunday. Registration for the opening event of the 2025 SKUSA ProKart Challenge opens January 28 at 7pm PST. A new addition to the list of tracks for the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge is the Spring Mountain Karting facility. Part of the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club in Pahrump, Nevada, the new karting circuit was constructed in 2024, opening to karters in October. A portion of the new circuit (North Course) features a replica of the famed Las Vegas Karting Center, which was the site of the first five editions of the SKUSA SuperNationals, to complement the full layout at 1.13 miles. The facility is roughly an hour away from the downtown Las Vegas area and airport. “The schedule we have been able to put together for the ProKart Challenge rivals that of our SKUSA Pro Tour,” stated Tom Kutscher, CEO of Superkarts! USA. “Tracks that racers want to travel to have been lackluster here in the region. We saw karters come out last year to K1, more than doubling our numbers at our two final events in 2024. Now adding Spring Mountain sparks the excitement even more with another new facility, just minutes from Las Vegas. Our first two weekends should be record breaking weekends.” Round Four of the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge returns to the K1 Circuit over the June 21-22 weekend to mark the halfway point of the 2025 season. The fourth stop for the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge takes the program north to the Sonoma Raceway on August 23-24. The event marks the first visit for the organization to the Sonoma, California facility since the 2017 SKUSA Pro Tour SpringNationals. “We’ve been able to put the past seven years away and focus on returning back to Northern California,” added Kutscher. “There are diehard karters, great race teams, and several industry members who wanted us to come back to wine country. We’ve been able to work out the details to hopefully make this an annual trip for our series. No other circuit has a view like Sonoma.” A third visit to the K1 Circuit serves as the sixth and final round of the championship program for the 2025 Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge. The series finale is slated for October 11-12. Classes for the 2025 Superkarts! USA California ProKart Challenge has changed from last season. The core divisions from the SKUSA Pro Tour are part of the class roster except for the X30 categories of Senior, Junior and Master. Pro Shifter and Master Shifter along with the three KA100 classes – Senior, Junior and Master – are joined by Mini Swift and Micro Swift for the core seven divisions of the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge. New for the 2025 season at the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge is the inclusion of the new FZ shifterkart package divisions from Factory Karts. The new spec chassis / engine program features the Factory Kart shifterkart with age-specific FZ engine platform. The FZ125 Spec Shifter class is for drivers 15 years and above. The Junior Shifter division incorporates the FZ85 engine for drivers aged 12-15. The Mini Shifter class features drivers aged 9-12 utilizing the FZ65. All three categories compete on the Evinco Blue ‘SK-H2’ tires. “It’s exciting to see this new FZ engine package from Factory Karts,” Kutscher commented. “They were a big talking point following the Mini Shifter demo at the SuperNationals. I’ve followed their development, and it could be the new foundation we need here in the United States to build up the shifterkart following. The early years of the SKUSA ProMoto Tour and all the regional programs were based on shifter classes for Cadet up to Masters drivers, and their spec engine platform is exactly what our current Pro Tour was launched on for shifterkarts. I believe this is the start of something big for grassroots shifterkart racing.” The prize package for the 2025 Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge has grown to nearly a $84,000 value. The daily podium prizes return in 2025, with each class winner for each round earning a 2025 PKC Entry with tires, second place a 2025 PKC Entry and third place earning $50 MotorsportsReg credit for SKUSA event. This equates to more than $7,000 per round and over $42,000 across the 2025 season. Year-end awards for the top three drivers in each class championship for 2025 is valued at over $42,000. Each class champion will earn a 2025 SKUSA SuperNationals Entry with tires along with the Guaranteed SuperNationals SuperSunday Starting Spot. Runner-up in the standings earns two 2026 ProKart Challenge Entries with tires. Third place in the championship takes home one 2026 ProKart Challenge Entry with tires. A unique prize package for year-end awards in the FZ categories have been established with support from Factory Karts. The FZ125 division will award the top three in the standings. The champion earns a 2025 SKUSA SuperNationals Entry with tires toward the Pro Shifter division with a KZ engine lease included.
