The 2017 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour completed in August with the third and final event of the championship series wrapping up in New Castle, Indiana. The new format for the 2017 SKUSA Pro Tour welcomed a change in the championship chase, featuring three events and six rounds of competition, deciding who would be crowned the title winners in the nine categories. Those drivers who finished in the top-tier of their respective categories and others who found success on the year are able to enjoy a portion of the more than $100,000 prize package for the 2017 season.

Hot Action Highlights California ProKart Challenge Event at CalSpeed

(Photo: DromoPhotos.com)

It was a hot return for the California ProKart Challenge to the CalSpeed Karting Center. The third stop of the 2017 championship series marked its first trip back to Fontana, California since 2010. Temperatures were on the rise during the June 2-3 event, testing the limits of both man and machine. Los Angeles Karting Championship competitors and alumni marked the event as their own, taking nine of the 11 victories Saturday afternoon, including a number of series first-time winners, helping to heat up the championship chases at the halfway mark.

EKN Trackside: 2017 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals – Sunday Report

The Superkarts! USA Pro Tour wrapped up a wild run to their eighth season with this weekend’s SummerNationals at the New Castle Motorsports Park. DKC’s Jake French (Sodi Kart) eliminated all doubt that he is the best shifter kart driver in the country when he completed his sweep of the weekend, after international professional Gary Carlton (Formula K) suffered a mechanical DNF. KartSport North America’s Brandon Jarsocrak (Praga) out-gunned Saturday winner Braden Eves (Vemme) for the win in X30 Senior.

Today marked the most dramatic finish to a SKUSA Pro Tour X30 Senior championship chase. It boiled down to defending champion Ryan Norberg (PSL / Birel ART) and 2014 title winner Jake Craig (RPM / Tony Kart). Both were vying to be the first repeat champion in series history, however, both would have to do it from the back of the field. Both were among the lead pack in the Prefinal. Norberg was turned around in the I-70 corner after contact with Craig. That dropped the defending champ down the order while Craig was involved in contact shortly after with Marjin Kremers (PSL / Birel ART). Kremers was removed from the remainder of the event for the questionable contact, as Craig placed 25th and Norberg 38th. Up front, Brandon Jarsocrak (KSNA / Praga) bounced back from his issues Saturday to qualify first and earn the victory in the Prefinal.  Read the full story on eKartingNews.com

The California ProKart Challenge is set to resume its 2017 championship chase, having taken the month of May off for the running of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals. The SKUSA flagship regional program is adding another circuit as part of their flashback tour, traveling to the CalSpeed Karting Center in Fontana, California on June 2-3. This year, the CalSpeed race will be the third stop of the championship chase, with a number of drivers in solid position after the first two events. The CalSpeed facility has become a major fixture in southern California karting over the last decade, and the 3/4-mile ‘Grande’ layout is the proposed course for the event. This will be the first time the program has visited the circuit – located just outside the Auto Club Speedway – since the 2010 season. A number of current California PKC karters were part of that January 2010 event, which kicked off that season’s schedule.
