The 2021 version of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour will begin this weekend at the NOLA Motorsports facility. The fourth edition of the WinterNationals is set to take place on the March 26-28 weekend at the Avondale, Louisiana facility, roughly one year after the 2020 version was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This season marks the 12th year for the SKUSA Pro Tour, as it continues to be among the longest running national series programs in North America. Following the Summer Festival in August 2020 to make up the six rounds of racing, SKUSA is looking forward to a more standard three event, six rounds of competition in 2021.

The SKUSA WinterNationals was established in 2017, as the SKUSA Pro Tour expanded to a three event, six-round format. The opening two years were held at NOLA Motorsports before moving to CalSpeed Karting in 2019. The fourth edition returns to New Orleans, and the 1.1-mile, 17-turn circuit in the counter-clockwise direction. Over 200 pre-entries are in for the nine categories set to compete over the three days. Read full story on eKartingNews.com

Superkarts! Usa Affirms Commitment To IAME 175 SSE Format And Announces Tremendous Incentives For 2021 ProTour Season
Monday, 01 March 2021 16:52

After a hectic 2020, SKUSA is getting ready to start another ProTour season this month at NOLA Motorsports Park. One topic of major speculation has been the future of the IAME 175 SSE shifter program and where shifter kart racing as a whole is headed within the SKUSA organization.

“It’s no secret the 175 had a difficult launch and underwent challenges in becoming the stable and driver-friendly engine it is today,” remarked SKUSA’s Tom Kutscher. “We don’t want to dwell on the past, we’re always trying to look forward. Rather than blame anyone, we’re doubling down on our commitment to see it work. We owe that to the racers who have purchased these engines and we truly believe that we have perfected this format now. The engine of 2021 is not the same one that had unforeseen issues at launch. We are prepared to show it, and our commitment to the program, in a very significant way.”

EKN Trackside: 2021 SKUSA Winter Series – AMR2 – Sunday Report
Friday, 19 February 2021 09:31

The final round of the Superkarts! USA Winter Series went into the books on Sunday at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires. Nearly 180 entries took part in the fourth and final round of the ‘best of three’ championship program at the Homestead, Florida facility with sunny and warm conditions all day. Most of the championships were either locked or near clinched with the X30 Senior up for grabs. The final class in the order would not disappoint with several story lines coming out of the last race of the program for 2021.

The Rolison Performance Group X30 Senior category victory and championship went down to the wire. Two-time defending series champion Ryan Norberg (RPG / Kosmic) and two-time race winner Arias Deukmedjian (KSNA / Kart Republic) came into the final day separated by just two points. Neither were able to claim the 10 bonus points for setting fast time in qualifying with Diego Ramos (REM / Kosmic) posting a 47.157-lap. Hannah Greenenmeier (RPG / Kosmic) was P2 with Deukmedjian third and Norberg fifth. Greenemeier pulled off nine laps into the Prefinal with a rib injury. Out front, Norberg was able to advance his way to the point, taking the spot from Senior rookie Connor Zilisch (Nitro / Tony Kart). They would run 1-2 to the finish of the 12-lap race with Thomas Annunziata (MDR / Tony Kart) third and Deukmedjian fourth. As the final race of the day and the weekend, the intensity seemed to be increased as the green flag waved. Several changes for position took place until Norberg and Zilisch sat 1-2 with Annunziata trailing. Behind him, Deukmedjian was shuffled back to eight on the opening circuit, but found himself up to fourth the following circuit. Zilisch spent 10 laps on the bumper of Norberg until a door opened up on lap 17. Annunziata was able to strike the following corner, dropping Norberg to third before Deukmedjian took the third spot away the next circuit. Zilisch maintain enough of a gap to go unchallenged to the victory. Annunziata made it Senior rookies 1-2 with Deukmedjian beating Norberg for third, thus securing the provisional championship. Officials however penalized Deukmedjian, along with Ramos three seconds for ‘track limit/shortcut’ on the track. That promoted Norberg to the third step of the podium, and handed him the championship. Sebastian Montoya (Tony Kart) advanced up to fourth with Deukmedjian dropped to fifth and Ramos to sixth.

EKN Trackside: 2021 SKUSA Winter Series – AMR 2 – Saturday Report
Sunday, 14 February 2021 10:06

A second straight victory for Arias Deukmedjian in X30 Senior (Photo: EKN)

The 2021 Superkarts! USA Winter Series finale weekend is underway with Round Three of the racing action completed on Saturday, February 13 at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires. Half of the winter championship was completed in January with the second half taking part this weekend in Homestead, Florida. For some, it was a chance to secure a position in the championship chase, for others it has been an opportunity to build for the upcoming summer season. Shinning on the day was KartSport North America / Kart Republic driver Arias Deukmedjian continuing on what he did in Round Two with a double victory today.

Deukmedjian’s first victory on the day came in the Haase Karts KA100 Senior division. Qualifying was the only blemish on his scorecard for the day, missing out on fast time by 17 thousandths with point leader Hannah Greenemeier (RPG / Kosmic) setting the quick lap. Deukmedjian took over the lead on lap 2 of the Prefinal and led to the red flag with two laps remaining. The main event was also cut short by five laps, but Arias led the entire distance until the red flag came out for an incident toward the tail end of the field. Deukmedjian was able to get away to a solid lead early as they battle for the second spot behind him. When the full course caution and red flag came out, Round One winner Brandon Lemke (FMS / Merlin) was in the runner-up spot ahead of Nolan Allison (RPG / Kosmic) and Greenemeier. Aiden Levy (Tony Kart) completed the top-five in the final results.
