The inaugural Superkarts! USA SuperNationals was run in November 1997, and the category that headlined that event was the 125cc Moto. Today, S1 Pro Stock Moto is the headline shifterkart division in North America, featuring the best drivers from coast-to-coast. Over the last few seasons, international drivers have found themselves driving the Honda six-speed powerplant – earning four of the last five SuperNationals victories. The fan favorite every year at the SuperNationals is the KZ division. Non-moto racing was at the first SuperNationals in 1997 with the Formula C engine package. Canadian Michael Valiante won the first three years of the class before it was removed to allow for the expanding class structure of the Superkarts! USA program. The introduction of the ICC engine package brought a karting-specific engine back to the SuperNationals in 2002, with the SuperPro division moving to a mix-program of moto and ICC engines the following year. Eventually, ICC was the dominant engine package, and continued into the introduction of the KZ engines. The category remained as the SuperPro category until the SKUSA Pro Tour was established in 2010, rebranding the class with the KZ name. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |

The first headline category to preview for the SuperNationals 20 is the X30 Senior division. Another sold-out field of 88 drivers are scheduled to compete in Las Vegas, as the ‘Touch and Go’ division makes its 13th appearance at the SuperNationals. Each and every year, the category is unpredictable. You may have an idea of the players involved as potential winners, but until that checkered flag waves on SuperSunday, it is anyone’s to win. The S2 Semi-Pro division was introduced way back in 1998 at the SKUSA SuperNationals to allow the regional and club drivers the opportunity to race for victory at the top shifterkart event. It was added to the SKUSA ProMoto Tour the following season and remained until a restructuring of the ladder system in 2001 when the S1 division became the second-ranked class of the organization. When the SKUSA Pro Tour launched in 2010, Superkarts! USA realigned the ladder system to feature the S2 Semi-Pro division utilizing the Stock Moto package as the second tier category. Today, young drivers making the transition from Junior level competition develop the skills to grow into a S1 racer, while the category still gives those top regional drivers the ability to compete at the national level. Of the 10 previous SuperNationals S2 winner, no one has repeated the triumph, thus 2016 will welcome the 11th different victor with last year’s winner Dario Capitanio not returning. It is a new era for the S4 Master Stock Moto division in Superkarts! USA competition. The introduction of the S4 Super Master category into the Pro Tour, the S4 Master class has become the headline division for elder shifterkart competition. The class no longer features multiple race groups at the SuperNationals, with the best of the best set to compete for victory outside the Las Vegas Convention Center.
