Deadline Approaching for Pre-Entry to SKUSA SuperNationals XV
Friday, 28 October 2011 09:02
In roughly 20 days, more than 500 drivers from all over the world will converge on Las Vegas, Nevada for the 15th running of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals. The annual event not only hosts the nation’s top competitors, but it will also attract some of the best international drivers for what will be a head-to-head fight for supremacy. The event also signifies the final round of the 2011 SKUSA Pro Tour, which means that there will be season-ending championships on the line for eight of the categories included at this event. With a packed paddock and full fields guaranteed, there is no doubt this year’s SuperNationals is going to be historic. The Superkarts! USA staff has been working around the clock to put the finishing touches on this year’s event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and the deadline for pre-entry is closing fast.

The next item on the SKUSA to-do list will be the deadline for pre-registration on Tuesday, November 1 at Midnight. At that time, the SKUSA Store will close for pre-entry, race tire sales, transponder rentals, practice tire sales and event memberships. After November 1, the purchasing of those items and to enter the event (at an increased price of $200 more) will be available only at the track. As announced previously, TaG Senior, TaG Master and TaG Cadet have been sold out and you may only be added to the current wait list for each category. TaG Junior was previously sold out; however, with cancellations and the wait list entries added in, there is still a chance for drivers to enter before it’s officially closed. S2 and S4 are nearing the cap and do not have wait lists, so qualified drivers may still enter these two classes, while spots also still remain in S1, KZ2, KF2, G1, and S5.

Among the final planning stages is the detailed schedule for the 2011 event. Instituted in 2009, SKUSA will once again use the split schedule leading up to SuperSunday, which involves having a set group of classes running in the first half of the day and the remaining classes running the second half of the day. This has been a welcomed addition since the event moved back to the Rio in 2008. With a class only on-track for half of each day, competitors and families have more opportunity to enjoy the event, take in the Vegas experience or to watch the other categories compete. The 11 classes will be split up into 16 sessions for each round of practice, qualifying and three rounds of heat races over Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Group 1 is planned to consist of TaG Junior, KF2, S2, TaG Cadet and KZ2, whereas Group 2 is composed of S4, TaG Senior, S5, G1, TaG Master and S1. Superkarts! USA would like to remind everyone that the deadline to cancel a pre-entry and still obtain a refund, or to cancel and transfer your entry to another driver without any additional charges, is November 1. Furthermore, the deadline for drivers and teams to pre-order or pre-purchase practice tires for pickup and payment at the track is Friday, November 4. Only tires pre-purchased by Nov. 1 (or pre-ordered via email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Nov. 4) will be available for pick up at the track. Thus, drivers and teams are encouraged to plan accordingly as Superkarts! USA will not have any extra practice tires for sale at the track. In case of inclement weather, SKUSA is reminding competitors to have their MG or Bridgestone wet tires ready. SKUSA has a limited supply of the initial 100 sets of the new MG-WT tires at $165 per set on a first-come, first-serve pre-order basis. Aside from those tires, SKUSA will not sell or provide rain tires.

Fuel and oil will not be pre-sold for this year’s event, but will be available for purchase at the track (at current market pricing) upon check-in at the SKUSA registration desk as well as throughout most of the race weekend. No fuel may be brought to this event, according to the very strict fire marshal codes. Additional items, such as hot pit passes, event passes, one-day passes, and SKUSA clothing will be available for purchase throughout the event weekend, so no need to pre-purchase these items before the Nov. 1 SKUSA store deadline.

With the size of the event and the limited space offered, SKUSA is requesting that every driver and team submit their pit spot reservation immediately. Please visit the Pit Spot Reservation section of the SKUSA website (http://www.superkartsusa.com/national/skusa-supernationals/pit-spot-reservations.html) to learn more about what information is needed to send this in to the SKUSA office. All requests are accepted and processed on a first come-first served basis, and each request will be acknowledged and responded to as soon as the pit map is updated with your request. The block of rooms reserved for SKUSA competitors at the Rio has been sold out for most of the dates of the event, so the only way to still get a room reservation at the discounted rate would be to coordinate your reservation with someone who is in the process of cancelling theirs.

A complete list of the event purses and prizes will be finalized in the coming days, as another record-breaking total will be doled out to the competitors of the SKUSA SuperNationals. That information, in addition to other last-minute announcements, will be released on both http://www.superkartsusa.com and http://www.ekartingnews.com as it is available to keep all racers informed, so please stay tuned.
