The 2025 season for the ProKart Challenge is ushering in a resurgence for the Superkarts! USA regional program. Following the double-round weekend that opened the season at the new K1 Circuit, the championship program is now set to venture to another new facility, this time in Nevada. The third round of the 2025 ProKart Challenge is scheduled for April 12-13 at the Spring Mountain Karting facility. The Pahrump, NV circuit finished paving in 2024 and will welcome Superkarts! USA for its inaugural race weekend.

Spring Mountain Karting circuit is part of the Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club facility that features over six miles of racetrack with resort-style amenities. The karting course broke ground in April 2024 on a 45-acre plot on the southeastern portion of the facility. The Spring Mountain Karting facility includes a 1.13-mile full course, a 28’ wide surface, and a 7.3 acre paddock area. Future development on the site includes a kart shop and storage, private garages, a control tower and viewing area, member’s lounge and more.

This initial visit to the Spring Mountain Karting facility is a ‘Back to the XPlex’ event. The ‘North’ course of the track is a 0.73-mile replica of the XPlex circuit that was situated just south of the Las Vegas Strip. Originally known as the Race Kart City Raceway, the Slone, Nevada circuit was site of the inaugural Superkarts! USA SuperNationals in 1997. From then until 2001, the circuit hosted what was then the ‘US Open for Shifterkart Racing’. The SKUSA SuperNationals established its foundation at the circuit that would later be re-named the Las Vegas Karting Center and then XPlex before its closing in 2008. The XPlex track is certainly ingrained in the history of SKUSA competition. Round Three of the ProKart Challenge will be contested on the North course over the April weekend, much to the delight of many in the paddock who had the opportunity to experience it in those early days.

A total of 179 entries at the opening weekend of the 2025 ProKart Challenge at K1 is proof of the excitement for the series and the new facilities, complimenting the record numbers at the 2025 SKUSA Winter Series in Florida and the upcoming SKUSA Pro Tour WinterNationals in Texas.

The largest class at the opening weekend of the ProKart Challenge featured 52 drivers in the Formula Works KA100 Senior class. Keagan Kaminski doubled up in the win column over the first two rounds and leads the championship by 13 points over Johnie Stamps with Jackson Menchu sitting third. The SuperSpeed Bearings KA100 Junior category had 34 competing on the weekend with Matthew Cagle and Sebastian Hauser each earning a victory. Hauser leads in the standings over Cagle by 35 points with Erik Doan sitting in third. Two different drivers also won in Mike Manning Karting KA100 Master at K1. Logan Manus and Tim Meyer were able to stand on top of the podium on the weekend. Meyer is leading the championship chase by 24 points over Myan Spaccarelli with Manus a close third.

The HRT Driver Development Mini Swift class was a double-win weekend for Luis Martinez. His two victories have him out front in the standings ahead of Nathan Ramirez by 98 points with Lucas Tarango sitting third. Aidan Go and Matthew Paciulli split the wins in the Sanner Racing Micro Swift class at K1. Paciulli leads the championship chase by 30 points over Go with Mason Brody in third.

Precision Works Racing Engines Pro Shifter was swept by former SKUSA Pro Tour champion Kyle Wick. His sweep of the two rounds has him leading five-time SuperNationals winner Billy Musgrave by 94 points as Hunter Pickett holds third in the early title chase. Travis Irving and Slava Prikhodko each won at K1 Circuit in the Mega Power Engines Master Shifter class. The point standings, however, are led by Volodymyr Borodavchenko over Michael Guasch and Levi Bennett.

The opening weekend of the 2025 ProKart Challenge welcomed two new categories. The Junior Shifter and Mini Shifter divisions are exclusively racing the new Factory Karts FZ spec engine package. Nash Motorsportz Junior Shifter was swept by Erik Doan with Nathan Dupuis as runner-up in both rounds. Troy Ferguson became the inaugural winner in the Precision Karting Mini Shifter division. Earning maximum points on the weekend, Ferguson leads Brandon Ng and Sebastian de Moissac in the early title chase. The P1 Engines Spec 125 class and Master Spec 125 divisions welcomed the FZ engine platforms on the weekend as well, featuring 16 drivers in total. Truly Adams was the double winner in Senior, while Jeff Krogstad and DJ Jenkins won in the Master class at K1.
