PKC sweetheart Kyle Zirkle was injured Saturday at CalSpeed when a kart went off the track and struck him, knocking him to the ground. He suffered a concussion, skull fracture and broken left leg. Surgeons installed a rod and pins in his leg on Sunday, and Kyle's other injuries are healing on their own. He was able to return home Monday evening, to welcoming family and a few buddies. "Kyle's a great guy, and we are saddened by this accident. We will do anything we can to get him back on his feet and racing again!" said Tom Kutscher.
In fact, PKC has seen an overwhelming outpouring of well wishes and offers to make donations to Kyle's 2009 racing fund. He will be on crutches for 6-8 weeks, and is devastated by the setback to his summer work and racing plans. Those wishing to send cards and/or donations may make checks payable to Kyle Zirkle and mail them care of PKC at 33175 Temecula Pkwy, Ste. 233, Temecula, CA 92592. You can also call PKC for contact phone and email info for Kyle: 951-491-0808.
"Everyone at ProKart Challenge is just great," dad Dave Zirkle adds. "And there's nowhere Kyle would rather be than back at the track with the racers -- and soon!"
All our best, Kyle! Get well soon!
