EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25 – Preview Series – KA100 Senior
Wednesday, 09 November 2022 23:28

The KA100 Senior division – featuring 74 entries – is set for its fourth edition at the SKUSA SuperNationals, and it will also welcome a fourth different winner. None of the three former victors will be competing at SuperNationals 25, including defending winner Brandon Lemke. Inaugural winner Steven Barros was ‘one-and-done’, Pauly Massimino is competing in X30 Senior only, and Lemke has elected not to defend his victory from 2021.

In fact, the top-10 will look a lot different this year with only three drivers returning from last year’s finishing order. The lone podium finisher coming back is Nicholas Terlecki (Franklin / Exprit), who placed third in his Senior debut at the SuperNationals. Double SummerNationals winner Oliver Calvo (SCR / Redspeed) finished eighth in his second year in the category a year ago. Those wins put Calvo fifth in the SKUSA Pro Tour championship chase. Caleb Shrader (RPG / Kosmic) finished ninth at SuperNationals 24 in his Senior debut and has been among the top 100cc drivers all season long in 2022 finishing fourth in the SKUSA Pro Tour standings. EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25 – Preview Series – X30 Master
Wednesday, 09 November 2022 23:26

SKUSA SuperNationals 25 will mark the 19th time for a Master category in the ‘TaG’ engine platform at the Las Vegas event. It all began in 2003 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino as the organization welcomed the class reserved for the elder drivers in the ‘Touch & Go’ machines. The division carried momentum each year, and eventually became one of the first to sell out once registration began. The X30 Master class was expanded past the 44-driver mark in 2016, however, reverted to just 44 in 2021 with numbers shrinking over at the SKUSA Pro Tour. During the span of the class at the SuperNationals, 11 drivers have claimed victory, with five earning multiple wins in the class. Read full story on eKartingNews.com

EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25 – Preview Series – KA100 Master
Monday, 07 November 2022 20:31

What was a quiet addition to the SKUSA SuperNationals class roster quickly became a focal point for the silver anniversary edition. The KA100 Master class is not new to SKUSA, as it was introduced in 2020 during the ‘Summer Festival’ two-weekend COVID-year format of the organization’s Pro Tour. Low numbers caused the category to be dropped for the 2021 season and the class has truly not yet reached the national level until this year’s SuperNationals. The class has seen growth throughout the regional programs of the country, including the California ProKart Challenge and record numbers at the Texas Sprint Racing Series program. Add to that the ‘Drive to 25’ program by EKN’s own Rob Howden, the category will enjoy a sold-out 44 driver field at SuperNationals 25. Read full story on eKartingNews.com

EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25 – Preview Series – Master Shifter
Monday, 07 November 2022 09:19

One of the original categories of the famed Superkarts! USA SuperNationals has been Master Shifter. It began in 2000 as the G1 division and was the main class for the elder gearbox drivers. The S4 Stock Moto division was introduced in 2006 and, for six years, we had two Master shifter categories at the SuperNationals. S4 became the sole division in 2012 and held that spot until 2018. The introduction of the IAME SSE 175 brought back the G1 name in 2019 before it evolved to Master Shifter in 2021. Let’s not forget the S4 Super Master and G2 divisions, as well, for drivers 45 and older from 2016 to 2019. Now, set as one lone category and enjoying the resurgence in shifterkart racing in 2022, we have seen the field grow from 19 to 40 drivers for this year’s SuperSunday battle. EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25 – Preview Series – X30 Junior
Saturday, 05 November 2022 14:43

The Touch and Go (TaG) engine platform took the USA karting scene by storm in the early 2000s, but it was not until 2008 that Superkarts! USA introduced the Junior category to the SuperNationals. Since then, 13 different drivers have claimed victory on SuperSunday – including two current Formula 1 drivers (George Russell in 2011 and Lance Stroll in 2012). Logan Sargeant won the class in 2014 before becoming the only USA driver to win the FIA World Championship in Junior competitionin 2015. Now, he’s set to be on the grid in F1 for 2023. Others make this list a very well-established group of former winners, including last year’s victor Jeremy Fletcher, who became only the second driver in SuperNationals history to win twice in the same event – taking the top honors in both KA100 and X30 Junior.
