A full weekend of racing was conducted on June 18-20 as the California ProKart Challenge hosted a double-round event at the CalSpeed Karting facility. Rounds Two and Three of the 2021 Superkarts! USA regional program were conducted at the Fontana, California facility on Saturday and Sunday following a full day of practice on Friday, welcoming over 100 drivers. Four drivers were able to leave the weekend with two victories each in their respective categories.
Jesus Vasquez Jr. dominated the West Coast Motorsports KA100 Junior division both days, earning a perfect score each round. Vasquez cleared the 19-driver field in qualifying on Saturday before leading all laps of the Prefinal. Vasquez then led all 22 laps while posting quick time in the Final for a 13-second advantage toward victory. The fight was for second, with Logan Ainsworth earning the position over G3 Argyros. Christian Cameron and Dane Idelson completed the top-five. It was a duplicate performance on Sunday for Vasquez, never relinquishing the P1 position throughout the day with wire-to-wire wins in the Prefinal and Final. Argyros improved to second with Caden Chrisman in third. Idelson was fourth with Cameron rounding out the top-five.

Consistent results have Branyon Tiner leading the X30 Senior championship standings heading into the SummerNationals (Photo: EKN)
The 12th season of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour is set to conclude this weekend (August 13-15) with the 11th running of the SKUSA SummerNationals at the New Castle Motorsports Park. A season high of 245 entries over the nine categories will converge on the New Castle, Indiana facility – site of last year’s SKUSA Summer Festival with two weekends of racing featuring six rounds of competition.
New Castle has been the home of the SummerNationals since 2015, with the SKUSA Pro Tour champions decided from 2017 to the present after the creation of the WinterNationals. The ‘SKUSA Super Mile’ course is the layout for this weekend, similar to what was used the first weekend in 2020, featuring the wild ‘ski jump’ section mixing the ‘national’ layout with the extension area. Weather will be an issue with humidity expected to be high, however, rain is not forecasted for the days of racing. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |

Rolison Performance Group's Ryan Norberg scored an impressive come-from-behind win at the third round of the SKUSA Winter Series in Homestead (Photo: OnTrack Promotions)
The expected excitement of the third round of the SKUSA Winter Series did not disappoint, as the racing was epic in a majority of the categories. Run in the reverse direction as the opening rounds in January, the 12-turn AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires presented a new challenge as multiple passing opportunities quickly emerged. Three-time SKUSA Pro Tour X30 champion Ryan Norberg cemented his reputation even further by recovering from contact-filled opening laps that shuffled him from pole to sixth, working back to the lead to score a stunning triumph. In Pro Shifter, MRC’s Billy Musgrave broke through for his first win after point lead AJ Myers (Croc Promotion USA) suffered a rear sprocket failure while leading in the main. The third storyline centered on the masterful performance by Canadian Mackenzie Clark (Prime Powerteam / BirelART), who positioned himself in the lead trio in X30 Junior and then managed the race with precision, moving to the lead in the late-going to score his maiden national level victory. A final heat race win puts top qualifier Evan Giltaire on the front row for the X30 Senior main event (Photo: EKN)
The key day of Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25 has now set the stage for only 10 main events remaining in this year’s race. Situation Saturday was indeed that, with the third and final heat race contested for the 10 classes, along with four Last Chance Qualifiers to decide the last remaining positions on the grid. A steady wind made for a cooler, yet sunny morning before the winds went away as the sun continued to shine on the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Eventually, the sun faded behind the famous Las Vegas resort and the final competitive laps were held under the lights. The last few remaining spots were decided and now the grids are set for SuperSunday.
The opening race of the day was the KA100 Junior AvsB heat race, providing a great measuring stick for what was to come. After a wild 10 laps, Helio Meza (IRM / Tony Kart) drove up from seventh to take the win ahead of SKUSA Pro Tour champion Jesus Vasquez Jr. (Nash / EOS) and Ernesto Rivera (RPG / Kosmic). Top qualifier Steven Miller (CDR / Alonso Kart) ended up back in fifth. Enzo Vidmontiene (MottazSport / Kart Republic) won the CvsD heat race, climbing up from fifth on the grid. Two-time heat race winner Caleb Gafrarar (RPG / Kosmic) followed through for second with Cameron Brinkman (MDR / LN Racing Kart) in third. Gafrarar will lead the field to the green flag with Meza on the outside of the front row. Vidmontiene and Rivera are in row two with Miller and Vasquez completing row three. The California ProKart Challenge returns to the CalSpeed Karting facility on June 18-20 for a double-header weekend to continue the 2021 season (Photo: DromoPhotos.com)
The 2021 California ProKart Challenge program returns trackside next weekend at the CalSpeed Karting facility. The Fontana, California circuit was left off the 2020 schedule due to COVID-19 restrictions, and comes back this season with the only double-header weekend for the year. Superkarts! USA regional competitors will be on-track for three days, including a full day of practice on Friday, June 18 and two separate rounds of racing on Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20.
The season began back in April with the opening round held at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park, as 13 classes were offered in the title chase for a 2021 championship. This year’s series format will again be a ‘Best 5 of 6 races’, with competitors having the ability to drop one round towards their year-end points total. This means drivers who were not able to race at the series opener can still compete for a spot on the year-end championship podium, or if facing other challenges can still be in the title hunt even if they cannot race both days at CalSpeed.
